How to Successfully Remove Conditions on Permanent Residence

Individuals who obtain permanent residence (aka a green card) through marriage and were married for less than two years at the time the green card was granted have what is commonly known as a 2-year green card, or a conditional green card. Because the United States is concerned about immigration fraud, conditions are placed on permanent residence and a another petition, USCIS Form I-751, must be filed to remove the conditions. The petition must be filed in the 90 days preceding the expiration of your green card.

While this process is easiest if you're still married, it is sometimes possible to have the conditions removed even if you've divorced. Either way, you need to prove to immigration that the marriage was a real marriage, and not a sham marriage for immigration purposes. Typically, this is accomplished by proving joint residence, shared finances, and that friends and family know that you are (or were) married and support your marriage.

Evidence that supports joint residence includes: joint lease or joint homeownership, post-marked envelopes, utility bills, W-2's from employer, other official documents showing the address, letters from landlord or neighbors saying they see you both at the residence, etc.

Evidence that supports shared finances: joint bank accounts, joint credit cards, joint home or renters insurance, joint car titles, joint health insurance, joint income tax returns, etc

Evidence to show that friends and family know about your marriage: letters of support with personalized details, pictures of you and your spouse together with other people (please note these MUST be labeled or they won't be taken into account), pictures from your wedding or reception showing that people attended.

Other evidence that I typically recommend (if applicable): birth certificates of any children born to the marriage, evidence of parental relationship between step-parent and step-child.

One common mistake when gathering evidence is failure to prove the three main points (joint residence, shared finances, and that other people know about the relationship) throughout the time period. People will gather only recent bills, the most recent lease, etc. It is best to plan ahead and gather evidence from the time or marriage until the I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence is filed, but even if gathering all of the evidence just prior to filing the petition it is absolutely essential to submit proof spanning the entire marriage.

Individuals who divorce during the two year period can still file the I-751 Petition on their own, and must submit the same type of evidence to prove that the marriage was entered into in good faith, not just for immigration benefits. I do not recommend that anyone try this without an immigration lawyer.

Finally - if filing the I-751 Petition without assistance of a lawyer, ALWAYS consult an attorney if you receive a Notice of Intent to Deny or an RFE (request for evidence). Good luck!

Movie Wedding Speech

The best way for you to end your wedding speech is to quote a famous line from a movie, which will encapsulate everything that you have been through with the bride and groom ever since you have known them. You do not have to find it very hard to create your wedding toast because the movie wedding speech can do it for you. You have to find the right words from the movie that would best describe how you feel about the bride and groom at that very moment.

What You Can Say

Finding a movie wedding speech at that very moment is not that easy. What you can do for it is to have the picture of your friends in your mind. What movie would best suit their love story? Once you find the best movie that can describe the bride and groom's story, you can now create a wedding speech that is loosely based on that movie.

Once you have made this speech, you can even insert a few quotes from the movie itself. Just make sure that the quotes will further enhance your speech and make it more romantic. Here are some of the best quotes that you can use in a wedding:

  • "Life is like a box of chocolates, you would never know what you are going to get." Forrest Gump.

  • "I will never let go..." Titanic

With these quotes, you can express how much you love the people that you would dedicate your speech to. The important thing to remember is to fit your quote into the speech that you are preparing. The quote should depend on what your role would be during the wedding.

You should also remember that the quote should mean as much to you as it would to the couple. In this way, the emotion of your movie wedding speech would be felt not only by the bride and groom, but also by the people of the audience as well.

The Importance of Movies for the Wedding

Movies are also an important part of a person's life. It gives them the time to forget everything that is going on in their lives. Therefore, if you use movie lines to express how you feel about the people who are important to you, it would be much easier for you to convey your message of love and loyalty to your friends.

A movie wedding speech will help you convey your message as clearly as possible with the added spice of humor in your speech. Just make sure that even though you pulled something from a movie, you would still make an effort to have originality in your wedding speech.

Thank you for the time you spent with me reading this article about the movie wedding speech! I'd also love to meet you on my blog to have a chance to tell you more about wedding speeches - actually you could start by browsing the category page for wedding speeches examples right away - you will want to share it with others.

Wedding Invitation FAQs

The etiquette surrounding wedding invitations is very specific. Each phrase conveys a particular meaning, which is why it is important to get the wording right (or risk sending the wrong message). These are the most frequently asked questions about wedding invitations.

What is the Difference Between "The Pleasure of Your Company" and "The Honour of Your Presence"? This is actually a very easy one: use the phrase "The honour of your presence" on an invitation to a wedding in a house of worship, and use "The pleasure of your company" for a wedding ceremony held anywhere else. It is customary to use the British spelling of the word "honour", particularly for a formal wedding. Be sure to be consistent, so if you spell honor as "honour", also use the British spelling "favour" for favor, as in "The favour of a reply is requested".

When Should Invitations Be Mailed? You need to give your guests adequate notice, so that they have sufficient time to buy plane tickets, find the perfect dress and wedding jewelry, and schedule time off from work. Six to eight weeks before the wedding is the usual time frame for mailing out invitations. That also allows guests enough time to send in their R.S.V.P. so that you can get an accurate head count. If you feel the need to notify guests about your upcoming nuptials more than two months in advance, do so with a save the date card.

What is the Difference Between Engraving and Thermography? Engraving is the most traditional form of printing a wedding invitation. A copper plate is etched with the invitation wording, and then the paper is run through a press over the copper plate. The result is that the words are raised on the surface of the paper in a very elegant fashion. Thermography is a far less expensive process in which powder is combined with ink to print letters which are slightly raised. The easiest way to tell the two apart is that when an invitation has been engraved, the paper will be slightly indented on the back. The ink will also be less shiny than in the case of thermography. While thermography is popular because of its lower price point, there are some who find it to be in poor taste; it is often called "fake engraving". If the wedding is to be formal, either in terms of a fancy venue or an opulent bridal gown and wedding jewelry, stick with traditional engraving.

How Should the Invitation Be Worded When the Bride's Parents Are Divorced? The one thing that should be avoided is giving the appearance that the parents of the bride and groom are still a couple, no matter how much the bride wishes for a "perfect" family for her wedding. The names of the bride's parents should be on two separate lines, starting with her mother's name. Step-parents are sometimes, but not always, included on the invitation, depending on family dynamics. If the parents' names are to appear alone, the invitation would be worded: Mrs. Margaret Smith Green / Mr. Richard John Green. The format for the bride's mother's name is: First, Maiden, Last (assuming she still uses her former married name; if she has reverted to her maiden name, the format would be Mrs. First, Middle, Maiden). Note that the correct title for a divorced mother of the bride is still "Mrs.". The form "Ms." is not used on formal social occasions, and once married, a woman can never revert to being a "Miss".

An elegant wedding invitation helps to set the tone for a wedding, so it is worth the effort to get it right. That way, when your invitations arrive in the mail, your guests will understand exactly the message you are trying to send, and will be excited to attend your wedding.

Floral Theme Wedding Invitation Ideas

According to Indian custom, the first wedding invitation is dispersed in running water to ensure a long and happy marriage. An invite holds such importance in a traditional Indian marriage that Indian families go ahead and contribute about 5% of the total marriage budget to the invites. Extravagant cards can utilize up to Rs30,000 in a marriage celebration that has a total budget of Rs5 lakhs. When it comes to cards for a daughter's wedding, a floral theme can be used to complement the beauty of the bride and to celebrate the blooming relationship.

How to Use a Floral Theme for the Wedding Invitation

Given below are some useful ideas for impressive floral themed wedding invitation cards:

  1. Colors: Bright, fresh floral colors, like pink, red, orange, white, lavender and shades of blue are ideal for inducing the wedding invitations with an organic and fresh look. While pinks and reds would complement the bride's blushing beauty, lavender and deep blue shades always look beautiful.

  2. Patterns: Use modern scroll work, complemented with roses, vines, leaves and twigs on the sides of the card and use flower watermark imaging for decorating the background. Flower patterns can also be printed with the help of thermography, using metallic gold or silver ink all over the card.

  3. Embellishments: Use silver or gold diamantes strategically to create unique floral patterns. Tiny flower sequins stitched on vellum paper, silk handmade paper or wooly paper can also look extremely beautiful for Indian wedding invitations. If you choose scroll cards for sending the invites, use a ribbon with flower arrangements to seal the scroll cards. Use tassels, tulle or silk thread for additional adornments on the cards.

  4. Stationary paper/fabric: Light and elegantly thin fabrics that almost look transparent are ideal for floral theme invites. Pictures of floral scenery or colorful roses, carnations or alstroemeria look mesmerizing when printed on fine glassine paper. You can print floral arrangements on colorful add-on cards also for a complete floral marriage invites suite. For eco-friendly lovers, manufacturers offer handmade petal paper made from preserved flowers, twigs and leaves. You can choose any floral color that you want for cards designed with handmade paper. Handmade petal paper not only looks organic and beautiful, but also smells great.

Affordable Wedding Invitations - Suggestions

A way to cut the cost of your wedding invitations would be to try and make your own.

There are a lot of designs and colours to choose from to suit your wedding theme. Some tips for Brides and Grooms are if they purchase silver and gold pens. They can then ask friends and relatives to help out with hand writing the invites. The cards will look classy and professional. They will be just as good as the pre-printed invitations from stationers.

An idea for your design would be to use rulers to create beautiful borders and patterns on your wedding invites. You can also draw squiggles and circles which will be great for your first attempt.

If you don't want to draw then you may prefer to trace the designs onto the wedding invites. Once you are happy with your drawing, you can go over your unique creation with colored pens.

You can use all sorts of shapes and sizes for your invitations. Try using a single sheet for your invite to save money. You can select a plain rectangle card. Another type of invite is an enveloped style design with a regal theme.

Add a touch of class with a ribbon which seals the outside of the wedding invite. Brides can add a touch of drama by using a royal seal which holds the ribbon and envelope in place. You can use the colours of your wedding as the seal and ribbon theme which could be gold and burgundy.

Another idea could be a scroll style of wedding invite. Try wrapping a ribbon around the outside of the invite. The outside of the invitations can be decorated in a wedding theme and colour of your choice.

A favorite wedding invitation is a card which opens in the middle and is sealed with a ribbon which guests need to remove before revealing your beautiful wedding invitation.

Hope you enjoy using the above affordable wedding invitations.

Increase Your Photography Clients Through Facebook

While Facebook is an effective marking tool for a number of different types of businesses, it is particularly well suited for marketing a photography business. Why is this so? Unlike other businesses, potential clients can actually experience the product on Facebook. Unlike an insurance business, where a person can only learn about the service that is provided, in a photography business, a potential client can actually enjoy the portraits. Given this inherent advantage of advertising on Facebook, professional photographers should take advantage of his marketing opportunity.

Here are some tips for marketing a photography business effectively on Facebook:

1. Don't be a spammer. If you send out messages once or twice a month is a rate at which most of those receiving the message will find helpful. If you send out messages too often Facebook might identify you as a spammer and kick you off of the site.

2. Add photo albums to your profile page. This may seem like no brainer, but some people neglect to do this. You are after all running a photography business; the pictures you select should represent your very best work.

3. Add Videos to the site. Create a video of a photo shoot session. This will give those looking for a photographer an opportunity to know what to expect if they select you as their photographer. If your video portrays how fun and easy the shot will be, they will feel much more relaxed.

4. Add a few tidbits about yourself but keep it professional and don't overdue it. Knowing about your most embarrassing moment will not likely help people decide to choose you as their photographer.

5. In the top left corner of your profile page add a picture of yourself holding a camera. This will let people looking for photographers know right off the bat that they are in the correct location.

6. After each photo shoot, add a one of your best pictures to your Facebook. This will help keep you fresh and relevant on other people's pages.

7. Add an Ad page. You will find that spending money on a Facebook ad is cost effective as compared to other marketing efforts.

Marketing through Facebook might take a little time, however the cost is almost nothing and you will find that your time has been well spent.

Witnesses On A Platter: The Matter of Witnesses for a Marriage Ceremony

We all make promises to other people - sometimes face to face, sometimes over the phone, sometimes in passing conversation (implicitly), sometimes with conditions, sometimes without meaning it, sometimes speaking under our breath, sometimes making that promise to oneself in respect of another person - and of course, sometimes formally, by signing a legally binding document (in contract) or in some other official or business situation.

In relationships, people can make promises to each other in a very informal way - such as when a woman says to her beloved, "We'll be together forever, won't we?" and he replies, "Yes, my love, forever."

But that doesn't constitute a marriage - not because the intention isn't as heartfelt and genuine as any other vow, but because marriage in Australia has specific requirements in order to be recognised as such. These requirements include the necessity of having two formal witnesses present while the legal wording and the marriage vows are said. This is part of the requirements of section 44 of the Marriage Act 1961.

How Many People Need To Be Present At The Wedding?

The very smallest of wedding parties possible for a legal marriage ceremony in Australia is 5 (five): the bride, the groom, the celebrant, and the two witnesses. It's not possible for a valid marriage ceremony to include just the bride, the groom and the celebrant.

The celebrant cannot be one of the witnesses.

There's nothing to bar a family member from being a witness. Equally, it is not necessary that the witnesses are Australian citizens. They must, however, be over 18. They have an important function as part of the marriage ceremony.

Of course, a wedding doesn't have to limit itself to the minimum - there can be hundreds of people present if the bride and groom wish!

What Do Witnesses Witness?

Everyone present at a marriage ceremony is, of course, a witness to the ceremony. However, there are two formal witnesses whose specific function is legally necessary. The Marriage Act 1961, Section 45 (2), states that the vows must be said in the presence of the authorized celebrant and the witnesses.

The witnesses must also be there to witness the authorised celebrant state, as set out by the Marriage Act 1961, Section 46, that he/she is duly authorised by law to solemnise marriage according to law. The Registered Marriage Celebrant specifically addresses the fact that the couple is to be joined in marriage in his/her presence and in the presence of "these witnesses".

Do The Witnesses Need To Sign Anything?

It's necessary for the two witnesses to sign all three copies of the marriage certificate. It is neither possible for someone else to sign on their behalf, nor for the witnesses to say they'll sign later. To comply with the requirements of Section 50 of the Marriage Act 1961, the signing must be immediately after the marriage has been solemnised.

It's part of the ceremony, in fact. The Marriage Celebrant will state that the Signing of the Register will occur; during that period, there's usually music or some other element to engage the interest of the wedding guests. The business of signing usually takes approximately 5 minutes - it may take a little longer, but it is rarely less.

Any Witness Will Do?

While anyone over 18 can be a witness, that doesn't mean that the couple can drag two strangers off the street to be their witnesses, moments before the ceremony. The Marriage Certificates will have been prepared in readiness for the ceremony, including the names of the witnesses (requiring only their signature at the appropriate time in the ceremony).

The couple will need to have communicated the names of the witnesses to the Registered Marriage Celebrant sufficiently in advance to enable the necessary preparations.

"I Can Provide The Witnesses" - is that true?

It is not recommended or desirable that the two witnesses to a couple's marriage be provided by the Marriage Celebrant. The reason for this is that it puts everyone involved in an invidious position if there should arise any questions relating to the marriage.

The Explanatory Material provided by the Attorney-General's Department to Registered Marriage Celebrants discusses this issue. It explains that there's a particular object in requiring the attendance of witnesses to the ceremony - that is, their evidence will be available if it arises that the identity of either the bride or the groom comes into question, or if the circumstances in which the ceremony was performed come into question. This is exactly why the witnesses should be "persons who know the parties to the marriage".

It is explicitly stated that the provision of the witnesses is the "responsibility of the parties to the marriage". A Marriage Celebrant should absolutely not be advertising his/her ability to provide witnesses to the ceremony. If a celebrant is requested to provide witnesses to the ceremony, it "might arouse suspicion as to the propriety of the marriage" - and this is something no bride and groom would want!

There may be extraordinary cases in which the bride and groom positively cannot provide witnesses but the celebrant is satisfied as to the genuineness of their relationship and identity. It is up to the Marriage Celebrant in such extraordinary cases to make a judgement call about providing witnesses. But ordinarily, such requests should "not be acceded to", as stated by the Attorney-General's Department.

Can The Witnesses Be Attendants?

If the bride wishes her maid of honour to be her witness, that is perfectly acceptable. The same is true if the groom wants his best man to be his witness.

Since witnesses have an important part to play in the purpose and legality of a wedding, it is a privilege and an honour to be asked to perform that role. There are no words to say, no special requirements, no need to do anything in the ceremony except to hear what is said, and to sign the Marriage Certificate as witnesses. The Marriage Celebrant will guide the witnesses to approach the Signing of the Registry at the appropriate time.

How to Prepare Wedding Invitations at Home

Personalized wedding invitations not only adds an intimate feel of a close bond but also shows the efforts taken to make the wedding a 'once in a lifetime' affair. Wedding is a big occasion- it is a bond that binds two people harmoniously for better or worse. Among other things, sending invitations is a time consuming task. But, if you have much time, consider making homemade wedding invitations. These invitations are prepared at home and the option can only work when the people invited are in small numbers. For instance, it is difficult to prepare homemade invitations for 500 invitees but if there are around 70-80 guests, it is possible. Of course, you need help from other family members. How to go about it?

Search Online- If you are making for the first time, then it is advised to search online for wedding invitation samples. These samples are stocks of invitations made with unique designs, patterns, decorations, and themes. You can even download few to get a better idea. Downloading the samples is free of charge.

Design and Themes- After getting an idea for making homemade invitations for wedding, it is time conceptualize the wedding theme and accompanying design. Discuss with family on themes. Once it is decided, think about the designing. Write down all the materials to be purchased. Buy from a good stationary store and in bulk.

Making Invitation- Invitation cards can be of several outlays. Generally it is folded into two. Don't forget to decorate both the inside and outside. Use good quality stiff paper. Decorate the invitation cards according to pre-decided designs and theme. It is best to make a rough draft of the design first, print it out and replicate the same on the actual homemade wedding invitations. At last, attach the RSVP card with ribbon, place them in equally beautiful enveloped and mail them or give the invitation personally.

Hot Color Combinations For Printable Wedding Invitations

I am always amazed at the wonderful color combinations our customers come up with for their wedding invitations. Some of them reflect the advice of well known wedding experts but many others reflect their own individual style and panache. Here are our latest "hot" combinations for the upcoming wedding season:

1. Flame Orange, Rose Pink and Lemon Yellow: This was a stunner of a combination. Orange and pink has been popular for 3 years now and shows no sign of abating but the added touch of yellow really made this invitation a stand out. The bride chose a bright flame orange pocket folder and added a rose pink insert to be glued over the center and under the white invitation card. She then chose a lemon yellow double- faced satin ribbon to tie around the pocket folder. Gorgeous effect.

2. Sapphire and Silver: The blues are still coming on strong and sapphire is turning out to be a popular color this year especially when combined with silver. We are getting many requests for sapphire pocket folders with silver inserts and silver ribbon accents.

3. Black and Blue: Black is our most popular request by far. And this year many brides are choosing a blue insert and blue ribbons as an accent color. Lagoon blue adds a touch of beauty to the formal sophistication of black.

4. Bronze and Gold: I love our brides who think ahead and we are already getting fall invitation orders. By far the most popular is the bronze pocket folder with a gold insert card and an "old" gold ribbon. It makes a lovely rich, burnished combination for fall and early winter weddings.

5. Watermelon and Rose Pink and Lime: Last but not least, watermelon pink is still very popular and a great many of our brides are accenting with a rose pink insert. However my favorite combination was a bride who added a bright lime green ribbon to the watermelon and rose pink duo. What a wonderful invitation for a spring, summer or beach wedding.

I love color and part of what is so much fun about mix and match invitations is having people order combinations of colors I would never have thought of but are simply gorgeous. So indulge yourself with color and creativity and make your own stunning wedding invitations.

The White Wedding - Australia's Most Popular Public Ceremony

In Australia the marriage rate is generally stable, although there has been a decline over the past twenty years. In 2005, 109,000 marriages were registered in Australia, which is equivalent to 5.4 marriages for every 1,000 people. Couples are also marrying later with the average age of first-time brides being 27.5 years in 2004 and increase of 4.5 years since 1984.

In some countries, cultures and religions, the actual act of marriage begins during the wedding ceremony. In others, like Australia, the legal act of marriage occurs at the time of signing a marriage license or other legal document, and the wedding is then an opportunity to perform a traditional ceremony and celebrate with friends and family.

A woman being married is called a bride, a man called a bridegroom or groom, and after the ceremony they become a wife or a husband, respectively.

Most weddings contain wedding vows and a public proclamation of marriage, usually by a government approved celebrant. The Australian Marriage Celebrants Program was established in 1973. It enables the appointment of suitably qualified people to perform marriages and provides couples with a meaningful alternative to Government Registry Office and mainstream church weddings.

Most weddings also involve wearing traditional clothes (gowns, kilts, white gown, red sari and so on). A wedding is often followed or accompanied by a wedding reception. Some receptions are very expensive and elaborate affairs costing tens of thousands of dollars while other may just be a group of friends and family sharing a meal at a local restaurant.

Other elements during the wedding service may include music, poetry, prayer or scripture readings. Some elements of the traditional Western wedding ceremony symbolize the bride's departure from her father's control and entry into a new family with her husband.

A number of cultures utilize the western custom of a bride wearing a white dress. This tradition came to symbolize purity in the Victorian era. Within the 'white wedding' tradition, a white dress and veil would not have been considered appropriate for a second or third wedding of a widow or a divorcee.

The custom of exchanging rings may be the oldest and most universal symbol of marriage, but the origins are unclear. The ring's circular shape represents perfection and never-ending love. The rings are exchanged during the wedding ceremony and symbolize the love, faithfulness and commitment of the marriage union.

The common element in a wedding is the assumption of spousal roles by the primary participants. The wedding is a special moment that marks the beginning of a new life together. Often, it is also a precursor to parenthood, marking the promise of a new family and a new generation. This moment is recognized with traditions, ceremonies and rituals including engagement and wedding ceremonies.

When it comes to planning a wedding, people often honor traditions, even if they do not fully understand their origin or meaning. Every culture cherishes its own wedding traditions and superstitions. Some of those are closely followed even by those who are normally not superstitious.

Common western superstitions include the bride not wearing black or red, the groom not seeing the bride on the day of the wedding before the ceremony, and the throwing of rice as the couple leave the church.

The figure of a bride in white is an important element of the ritual of marriage in western culture. However, new designs of gown are available so brides today may find themselves attracted to designs that do not look traditional. The symbolism behind the wedding dress, however, has not changed.

In recent years, the "Western Style Wedding" (influenced by a Christian church wedding) has become an increasingly popular choice. An entire industry has sprung up, dedicated to providing couples with a ceremony modeled after Protestant church ceremonies.

The purpose of inviting guests was to have them witness a couple's marriage ceremony and vows and to share in the bride and groom's joy and celebration. Gifts for the bride and groom are optional, although most guests attempt to give at least a token gift of their best wishes. Some brides and grooms and families feel, contrary to proper etiquette, that for the expense and effort they put into showing their guests a good time and to wine and dine them, the guests should reciprocate by providing nice gifts or cash.

In some European cultures it is traditional to pin money on the bride's dress. The amount of money obtained can be quite staggering, but people forget this money tends to circulate around very close-knit communities.

The couple often registers for gifts at a store well in advance of their wedding. This allows them to create a list of household items, usually including china, silverware and crystalware. More recently electrical goods, including the electric toaster of popular culture, appear on such registers.

With brides and grooms who might already be independent and have lived on their own, even owning their own homes jointly, they sometimes register at hardware or home improvement stores.

Registries are intended to make it easy for guests who wish to purchase gifts to feel comfortable that they are purchasing gifts that the newlyweds will truly appreciate. The registry information should, according to etiquette, be provided only to guests who request it. Some couples register with services that enable money gifts intended to fund items such as a honeymoon, home purchase or education fund.

Some guests may find bridal registries inappropriate. They can be seen as an anathema to traditional notions behind gift buying, such as contravening the belief that "one should be happy for what they receive", taking away the element of surprise, and leading to present buying as a type of competition, as the couple knows the costs of each individual item. It may also be seen by some as inappropriate to invite people who do not know either the bride or groom well enough to be able to pick out an appropriate gift.

The Best Creative Ways to Propose

Marriage proposals made over a romantic dinner at an elegant restaurant can be very romantic but they are not necessarily creative. Many women dream about the day that the man of their dreams proposes to them and hope that the day will be absolutely perfect in every way imaginable. In a recent study the majority of married women reported that they believe that their spouse spent a significant amount of money on their wedding proposal but that the lack of originality in the proposal had left the women feeling disappointed.

One creative way to propose for a couple involved in a long distance relationship is to plan a surprise visit and set up a scavenger hunt. You could have a friend pick you up from the airport so that your girlfriend doesn't know that you are coming to visit and have the friend give your girlfriend instructions for the scavenger hunt. You could hide a number of small surprises such as candy, flowers and a CD as the first few stops on the scavenger hunt and then hide at the final location poised to propose when your girlfriend completes the game.

An outdoor enthusiast might appreciate a creative proposal during a camping trip. It's a good idea to plan a quiet trip for just you and your girlfriend at a picturesque location. You could hide the ring in your sleeping bag to use in a surprise proposal. When it's time to go to sleep after a long day of hiking and fishing, you could complain that there must be a rock or something underneath you and then pull out the ring and make your proposal. This creative proposal also contains the element of surprise as a camping trip is not a usual proposal location.

Another creative proposal idea is to place an ad in a local newspaper. You could place an outrageous ad in a newspaper asking anyone who was willing to get married to give you a call and include a fictitious phone number. Then when you and your girlfriend are reading the paper together, you could point out the ad as a joke and while she is reading the ad, seize the opportunity to pull out the engagement ring and let her know that you would love to marry her.

Proposing at a sporting event is a creative way to propose to a sports fan. For this proposal idea you could either arrange to have your proposal broadcast over the public address system or displayed on the large screen. If you are really adventurous, you could also contact the team's public relations department and try to make arrangements to make your proposal on the field at halftime. They might be willing to help you stage a scenario where you are either chosen to win a prize or participate in a contest and while you are on the field, they would hand over the microphone to allow you to make your proposal.

Another creative marriage proposal idea is to purchase a book of poems and leave the first few pages intact and carve a heart into the remaining pages and sew the engagement ring to the back of the book. You could suggest taking turns reading the poems on each page and plan to have your girlfriend turn the final complete page to reveal the heart and ring that were hidden inside. This proposal idea is not only creative but also incredibly romantic.

Having the DJ of your girlfriend's favorite radio program ask her if she will marry you is another creative proposal idea. You will want to make sure that you are aware of the exact time that the DJ will be sending your message so that you are able to ensure that you and your girlfriend are listening together when he makes the announcement. You could also arrange to have the DJ play a song that has a special meaning for you as a couple so that you can enjoy a dance together after she accepts your creative proposal.

Another creative way to propose is to include all of your family and friends in the event by inviting them all to a surprise party for your girlfriend. To make this proposal work, you would either convince your girlfriend that you want to have a quiet dinner at home or at a restaurant with just the two of you. Once you arrive at the destination all of the guests will reveal themselves and while all eyes are on the two of you, you could take the opportunity to profess your love and propose.

Still another creative way to propose is to hide the ring in an unexpected location. For example you could pretend to have a clogged sink and while you are working to fix the clog, you could reach into the sink and pull out the engagement ring. When your girlfriend is nearby, you could seize the opportunity to pull out the ring you had hidden earlier and say something to the effect of, "No wonder the sink is clogged, I'll have to find another place to store this ring, how about your finger?" This whimsical proposal is both light-hearted and creative.

A variation on the traditional proposal at an elegant restaurant could be to have the waiter bring out the ring with the bill. You could have a little good natured fun with your girlfriend by going out of your way to drop hints that you would be proposing over dinner. If you keep up the act, she will be expecting your proposal with each course. After dessert you could tell her that you have something very important to ask and as she eagerly awaits your proposal, you could ask an inconsequential question about something completely irrelevant to your relationship. She will probably be furious at this point but her anger won't last as the waiter arrives with the bill and the engagement ring and you let her know how much she means to you.

Finally a creative proposal idea is for the woman to ask the man to marry her, instead of waiting for him to propose. Many women anxiously await the day that the man in their life will propose but why not add your own creative twist by proposing to him instead. The woman is free to propose in any way that she finds truly romantic and can ensure that the proposal is both creative and romantic and that it's a moment that they both will remember for the rest of their lives.

A great marriage proposal doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant. Many women are more likely to cherish the memories of a proposal that was inexpensive but truly creative. The creativity is what makes the proposal so memorable and what makes it a great story to tell their friends.

Getting the Right Shower Invitation Wording

One great thing about having a shower for someone, whether it be a baby or wedding shower, is that you have a lot of options that are all up to you. When you are wording wedding invitations you have to be very careful about how you do it, but when it comes to shower invitation wording, you can do almost anything you want as long as you get the right information in there. Think about the people you are honoring, what you will be doing, and then you can come up with the perfect wording for the invitation you will send out to guests you want to come to the shower.

First, before you start wording your shower invitations, decide on the activity or theme. You may be having a simple party that does not need much description, but more and more people are having themed showers for those that they love. Perhaps you are going to have an outdoor BBQ for a wedding shower that includes sports, or maybe you are going to have a baby shower that includes new and interesting activities for a mom to be that is having her first child. Knowing what you are going to do helps with the shower invitation wording.

If there are special things your guests should bring with them, this has to be included in your shower invitation wording. If you have a pool and swimming will be part of the celebration, you have to let your guests know so that they can bring a swimming suit and towel with them. If you will be doing something rather messy, that is great information to pass along in the invitation as well. Anything extra or special a guest should bring should always be included in the invitation so no one is left unprepared or left out of some of the party.

Simple shower invitation wording is always best. Simple state who you are and who your co-hosts may be, and state that you are having a baby shower or wedding shower in honor of your friend or friends. You can then include the time, place, and a number and email address to call or write to for RSVP and directions. You can then add any specials on the end like the needed swimming suit or that it will be outside and that sunscreen would be a good idea. Also give an RSVP date so people call you in time to let you know if they are coming or not.

Don't fret too much if you can not seem to come up with the right shower invitation wording. There are plenty of examples on the Internet that you can use, and you can also find invitations that simply allow you to fill in the blanks, negating the need for you to figure out how to word things just right. A shower is never as formal as a wedding, so no need to stress about the wording being just so. Make it short, sweet, and informative with all the proper contact information and you are good to go.

How Not to Get Swindled at Delhi Railway Station

1. "The booking office is this way"

You may be heading for the window marked 'Tickets' but a kind stranger will come up and tell you that this is not the ticket window for foreigners - they are so helpful that they will even take you there themselves! It's true that foreigners must buy their train tickets at the International Tourist Office, BUT the kind stranger is taking you to a private travel agency instead that will either sell you a train ticket at an inflated price, or that will sell you a bus ticket at an inflated price. BEWARE of kind strangers spontaneously offering you help that you have not asked for. The international ticket office for tourists is on the first floor of the main railway building, on the left of the main hall at the top of the stairs, open 8am to 8pm, till 2pm on Sundays, and don't let anyone tell you it's closed down.

2. "Your train is cancelled"

A man who seems to be in authority tells you your train has been cancelled because of an accident, or fog, or a strike, and you need to follow him to the office where you can buy another one or get a refund. BUT they will take you to a private travel agency instead that will either sell you a new train ticket at an inflated price, or a bus ticket at an inflated price - or even a taxi at a huge price. BEWARE of being told of train cancellations - your train is running - probably a bit late, but still running...Ask at the Enquiries window or ask someone in uniform before you believe it. Scammers know that tourists are often on a tight schedule and will pay up to get somewhere important like Agra.

3. "You need a boarding pass"

You have your ticket or your e-ticket and approach the platform for your train, but you are stopped by a man who seems to be in authority who tells you that you need a boarding pass. He calls someone over to take you to the office where you can get one. You are taken to a private travel agency who checks your ticket on the computer and tell you that as you have not reconfirmed your ticket your seat has been resold and there are no others - BUT you can buy a bus ticket! It's only twice the price of your train ticket! BEWARE of the boarding pass scam - you do not need one on Indian Railways!

4. "Show me your tickets"

You are settling into your seat waiting for the train to depart and the ticket inspector comes along. He has a navy blue jacket. He checks your ticket and informs you that you have not paid the tourist tax, or it is incorrectly issued - either way you have to pay 750 Rps or some other small sum in order to travel. He might even insist that you get off the train and go with him to the office to pay the extra, and as the train will be going in a couple of minutes you hurry to hand over the cash and there is no time for a receipt. BUT a little later the real ticket inspector comes along, with a uniform, a cap, a badge with a name and number - and a huge computerised list of names which he checks against your ticket. And he goes along the carriage checking everybody's ticket, not just foreigners'. Of course, there was nothing wrong with your ticket. BEWARE of imposters faking authority.

5. "Follow me"

You arrive at your destination, you've got a hotel booked and plan to take a taxi there. Outside by the row of taxis a man asks you where you want to go, but, how annoying, the hotel has closed down! But he is so helpful that he will take you to another place nearby or the government 'tourist office' - BUT it's awful and costs twice as much.....BEWARE of taxi touts on commission from hotels for delivering gullible tourists, look for the Pre-Paid Taxi desk at the far end of the station and head for there ignoring any offers of help - it's run by the police, you won't get ripped off with the fare and you'll go to where you intended to go.

How to Keep Track of Wedding Invitation Responses - RSVP Or Response Cards?

You've planned your wedding down to the very last detail. Any and every slight minutia has been taken care of. The last thing you want is unexpected guests ruining your perfect ceremony seating, your beautiful pre-planned seating chart, or throwing off the number of beef and chicken entrees. For that reason, most brides now choose to include RSVP cards or response cards along with their wedding invitations when they are sent out. Sounds easy enough, right? But what are the dos and don'ts of response cards?

DO Keep Track of Wedding Invitations Responses

Miss Manners may look down on including RSVP cards in your wedding invitations, but then again, Miss Manners isn't paying for your wedding. (And if we all listened to Miss Manners, your guests would all be sending RSVPs on their own personal stationary anyway.) Response card wording etiquette isn't as strict as with wedding invitations. Simply leave a space for the names of the guests and include check boxes for whether they will or will not attend. After that, the sky's the limit as to how you word it.

DON'T Assume Everyone has Perfect Handwriting

While you may have painstakingly written out all of your wedding invitations in perfect calligraphy, not everyone has the greatest handwriting. You may not be able to read some of your guests' "fancy" responses, so cover your bases. Number each name on your guest list and lightly place that number on the back or corner of the response card. This way, if you can't figure out the guests' handwriting, you can simply check the number on the back of the card and match it to the corresponding guest on your list.

DO Make it Easy to Send Back Response Cards

You don't want to leave anything to chance, so make it easy for guests to respond by pre-printing your name and address and putting a stamp on the RSVP card envelope. Traditionally, the RSVP card should be addressed to the host of the wedding (i.e. your parents), but if you are hosting the wedding yourself, or you live a long way away from the host, you will need to come up with an appropriate response label. Traditionally speaking, the names of the bride and groom should not appear together in print until after the wedding; if the couple is living together before the wedding, the RSVP cards should be addressed to the bride only.

DO Limit Your Number of Guests

If you have a strict budget that you are sticking to, or want to subtly let guests know that you don't want kids or their random dates at your wedding, there are a few ways you can do this on your wedding invitations' response cards. Include a line on the response card that says __ of __ guests will attend. You can then fill in the second blank with how many guests are invited. If this seems too tacky for you, include check boxes for 1 or 2 guests to limit the number of uninvited tag-alongs. This makes it seem like everybody is only allowed 1 guest, and you can always print separate response cards for large families in which you just leave a blank for the number of guests they will be bringing.

DO Include an RSVP Deadline for Response Cards

Most venues or caterers require a definite headcount of how many guests will be attending your ceremony/reception, and if you are making wedding favors, seating charts, programs or menus, you may need to know too. Find out when you or others need to know your final headcount by (usually it's about two weeks before the wedding), and then set your RSVP deadline at least two weeks before that. You will always have procrastinators on your guest list that will put off sending their RSVP to the very last day (maybe they're still looking for a date?), so you will be relieved to have a buffer between the RSVP deadline on your wedding invitation response cards and the deadline when you actually need to know.

DON'T Wait for Late RSVP Cards to Come to You

With the amount of time and money that you are putting into your wedding, you shouldn't have to guess when it comes to the final headcount. Most guests will understand that, and will send back their response card in a reasonable time span. However, RSVP cards could get lost, or maybe your forgetful Aunt Sally simply didn't remember to send it in. Don't wait for these guests' response cards to come to you! If you haven't received an RSVP by your deadline, go ahead and give them a call. There's no need to be rude about it, just make sure they have received the invitation, and then confirm that they are coming. If you can't reach a guest, go ahead and assume that they will come. After all, it's better to have an empty seat than have a guest with nowhere to sit.

Diamond Engagement and Wedding Rings Buying Guide

Getting to know Gems

Becoming intimate with Gems

The major cost of the engagement ring is often the sparkling diamond or shimmering colored gemstone that you select to adorn it. To avoid costly mistakes, it is very important to learn as much as possible about the stone you are considering. The best way to take the risk out of buying a particular gem is to familiarize yourself with the gem. While the average consumer can't hope to make the same precise judgments as a qualified gemologist whose scientific training and wealth of practical experience provide a far greater data base from which to operate, the consumer can learn to judge a gemstone as a "total personality" and learn what the critical factors are; color, clarity (sometimes referred to in the trade as "perfection"), sparkle and brilliance, and weight, and how to balance them in judging the gem's value. Learning about these factors spending time in the marketplace looking, listening, and asking questions before making the purchase will prepare you to be a wise buyer more likely to get what you really want, at a fair price.

Selecting a Diamond

The diamond engagement ring has emerged as the universal symbol of love and commitment between two people. Not only is it the formal beginning; visible "announcement" of your your engagement, but the centuries old symbolism surrounding diamond reflects both the preciousness of the moment and commitment made by two people in love to cherish each other forever.
While some woman prefer other gems to diamond, or opt for the special significant of a family heirloom, a diamond is the overwhelming choice of today's bride.

Some brides to be have no doubt been taken by surprise with the unexpected presentation of an engagement ring, but it is probably safest to go about the task of selecting the ring together. While the element of surprise is very romantic, keep in mind that the engagement ring is meant to be worn for a lifetime. So it is especially important that the bride-to-be really loves it; that it reflects her personal taste and style. If you are a die hard romantic who wants to surprise her, we suggest placing a photo of a ring you like inside the "tiny black ring box" and presenting her with this instead; it combines romance with practicality, and you are sending another important message: not only do you love her, but you understand the importance of working together on such important decision!

The previous and following articles, we will give everything you need to know to purchase a diamond with greater confidence; whether you are shopping for an engagement ring, wedding or anniversary band, or simply a beautiful piece of diamond jewelry to commemorate an important moment. The greater your awareness of the elements that determine diamond quality, the better chances of knowing what you want, getting exactly what you are after, and deriving lasting pleasure from it.

- What is diamond?

Chemically speaking, a diamond is the simplest of all gemstones. A diamond is plain, crystallized carbon; the same substance, chemically, as the soot left on the inside of a glass globe after the burning of a candle; it is the same substance used in lead pencils.

The diamond differs from these in its crystal form, which gives it the desirable properties have made it so highly prized; its hardness, which gives it unsurpassed wear-ability; its brilliance; and its fire. (But note that while diamond is the hardest natural substance known, it can be chipped or broken if hit hard from certain angles, and if the "girdle" has been cut too thin it can be chipped with even a modest blow.)

The transparent white colorless) diamond is most popular variety, but diamond also occurs in colors. When color is prominent it is called a fancy diamond. Diamond is frequently found in nice yellow and brown shades. Diamond color such as pink, light blue, light green, and lavender occur much more rarely. In diamonds, the colors seen are usually pastel. Deep diamond colors in hues of red, green, and dark blue are extremely rare. Historically, most colored diamonds have sold for more than their colorless counterparts, except for light yellow or brown varieties. Yellow or brown in very pale shades may not be fancy diamonds but off color stones that are very common and sell for much less than colorless diamonds or those with true "fancy" color.

In addition to natural color diamonds, "fancies" that have obtained their color artificially, through exposure to certain types of radiation and heating techniques, are readily available. The bill of sale (and any accompanying certification appraisal, etc.) should specify whether the color is natural or induced. If induced, the price should be much less, although the gem will often be just as beautiful as one with a natural color.

- The four factors that determine diamond value
Diamond quality and value are determined by four factors. These are called the "Four C's." If we were to rank then based on their important in determining the value of a diamond, we would list them as follows:

- Color (body color)

- Clarity (degree of flawlessness)

- Cutting and proportioning (often referred to as the make)

- Carat weight (which affects the size)

In terms of determining beauty, however, we would rank them in a different order:

1. Cutting and proportioning

2. Color

3. Clarity

4. Carat weight

Tips on getting the diamond you really want, within your budget

If you have an unlimited budget, you may feel it's important to have a large stone of the finest quality available; a "D" flawless with an ideal make. But for most of us who must work within a limited budget, selecting the correct ring is a matter of learning how to juggle, and discovering what factors will best meet our needs, emotional as well as financial.

- In diamonds, go for color and sparkle first

If you have a limited budget, you have to compromise on something; either the size, color, clarity (flaw grade), or liveliness. Of these four factors, one can see size, color, and liveliness. In terms of what most people notice on the finger, the clarity is the least important in our opinion. Personally, on a limited budget we would choose a stone with the best possible color and liveliness personality.

What most people don't understand is that even in SI2 diamonds, flaws are not really noticeable when the diamond is being worn and, in most cases, can't be seen at all without using a magnifier. In fact, if you take a well cut one carat D-color and FL (Flawless)-clarity diamond and hold it nest to a well cut one carat D/SI2 diamond, you will not see any difference with the naked eye. Contrary to what many think, it is not the clarity grade that determines how lively an brilliant a diamond will be, But its cut and proportioning. And you may feel much more sparkling yourself if you can spend $7,500 for a diamond, D/SI2, that could look like a $36,000, D/IF, diamond to anyone without a magnifier!

The diamond brilliance and liveliness is as important as its color. After all, that's what sets the gem apart from glass and cheap imitations. A well cut diamond has more sparkle; more brilliance and "fire," than any other gem. But the key to the sparkle is in its being well cut. We have seen diamonds that were so badly cut that they had no life at all. In fact, one might just as well be looking at a piece of glass.

For this reason, we prefer diamonds with very fine makes. Diamonds that are cut to look a little larger than they actually are can also be pretty, but when they are cut too spread, they will be lifeless. In our opinion, we'd rather buy a diamond that's cut exceptionally well; a diamond that really dances before the eye, even though it costs more. Because it does cost more, we would consider lowering the color grade a little in exchange for the best possible "make," or coming down in size a little. As you shop around, be sure to pay attention to the way a diamond is cut. Ask to see diamonds with "ideal" makes. You'll soon be able to spot differences in brilliance and liveliness. Then your eye will help you find the right balance for your own budget.

- A small difference in points can make a big difference in dollars.

The cost of a diamond increases significantly when it reaches the full, 1 carat weight. However, try to find a diamond that weight 90 points (or 9/10 of a carat). When set, few can see the difference between a 90 points diamond and one that is a full one carat diamond. The difference, however, is very noticeable in dollars. Where a fine one carat diamond (G/VS1 quality) might sell for $9,800, the same quality diamond weighting 90 points might cost only $8,500. The money you save could pay for a beautiful diamond studded wedding band!

A word of caution: Be careful that you aren't sold a diamond that is too "spread" (a term used to describe a diamond that is cut to look larger than its real weight). We've seen diamonds weighing 90 points that are actually LARGER in dimension than 1 carat diamond that is cut well. These diamonds usually lack the brilliance and sparkle of a well made diamond. You may be pleased with with their size, but make sure you are pleased with the sparkle. After all, if you are paying for a diamond, you deserve a stone that show its full beauty.

- What to consider when selecting the color grade.

D-color is the rarest and most expensive color in white diamonds. There are very few diamonds that receive this very high grade. Diamonds graded from D through H on the GIA scale are graded in the "white" by other grading systems and, when mounted, will appear white. I and J colors are colored "slightly tinted" by other systems and you may see some yellowish or brownish tint in the stone body color. K and L may also be called "tinted white," and you can more easily see the tint. M through Z may also be called "tinted color" or "off white" and appear yellowish or brownish white.

The difference in cost between D and E color, however; even though both considered "white" diamonds, can be significant.

It is important to remember that when a diamond is set, it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between D, E, and F colors without comparing them immediately nest to each other. For those on a budget, selecting a diamond with E, F, or G color rather than D might enable you to bets meet all your expectations; a "white'" diamond with lots of sparkle in a pleasing size.

- The color of your setting can make your diamond appear more white.

If you are on a limited budget, keep in mind that if you feel you can't afford a diamond as white as you would like and still have the size and sparkle that's important, setting the stone in a white gold or platinum may make the diamond appear more white than it really is. Less white diamonds (L through M colors) can actually look more white in a white gold or platinum setting; the whiteness of the metal is reflected into the diamond and masks the yellow, making the diamond appear more white. Yellowish tinted diamond ( M - Z Colors) usually look more white in a yellow gold setting, where the contrast with with the bright yellow of the setting masks the yellowish tint of the diamond and often makes it appear more white.

- Flaws may mar the beauty of your diamond ring less than you think.

On a budget, they may add beauty! As discussed previously, flaws cannot normally be seen in a mounted diamond with the naked eye until the classification I1 clarity! And even in diamonds classified as "I'" flaws are not immediately visible when the diamond is set, especially when worn. So, while it's important to know what the flaw grade is to be sure you are paying the correct price, this is the factor you can stretch the farthest without affecting the beauty of the diamond you select. It's one area in which juggling can dramatically affect the budget while not affecting the sparkle. Therefore, we normally recommend trying to meet your personal preferences regarding the other three factors first. The price difference between Flawless and Internally Flawless, and each successive grade, can be dramatic. Looking at the diamonds without using a loupe, the D/SI@ would look like the D/IF!

- Consider shapes other than round.

While the round brilliant cut diamond is considered by most to be the cut that best reveals the diamond's maximum beauty, it normally looks smaller than diamonds cut in other shapes. Today women are showing an increased interest in other shapes. In comparison to the round, pear shaped diamonds and marquise shaped diamonds look larger.

- Consider a design that uses several small stones than one large diamond.

As we discussed in greater depth in previous articles, may beautiful designs use several small diamonds rather than one large diamond. These designs offer a beautiful way to keep the budget down. The smaller the diamond, the lower the price per carat. For example, a one carat round brilliant cut diamond set in a solitaire ring more than a ring containing three diamonds having a total weight of one carat (each diamond weighing 1/3 carat). A solitaire, while it is the most popular ring style among new brides-to-be, is also the most expensive.

Look for the innovative designs available in multi gemstone rings. These offer an alternative that can create a very important and individual look.

- Illusion settings.

Certain settings create an illusion that diamond is larger than it is.

- Bold designs in gold and platinum add importance and distinctiveness to smaller diamonds.

New designs reflecting today's more independent woman have had a major impact on the engagement ring and wedding band market. Using wider, innovative designs in metal can create a very impressive look, using a smaller diamond (less that one carat) as well as larger diamonds.

- Listen to your heart as well as your head.

The most important consideration in the selection of your engagement ring is how you feel about it. You want to feel a thrill; you want to feel excited; you want it to be your choice. If you really prefer yellow gold, don't let someone talk you into platinum; if you really prefer the pear shape diamond, don't let someone talk you into round shape diamond.
One of our clients was torn between two diamonds; one had the finest possible color D and she knew it was the "better" diamond.

The other was a little larger and it was not quite as white, F color, but it had a magnificent make and the sparkle was really dazzling. She decided on the slightly larger diamond, even though it was F color, because she was honest with herself and her fiancee; she really preferred a diamond that was a little larger, she was constantly drawn back to that diamond because of its "personality." The other diamond was a "rarer" stone, color-wise, which made it more expensive on the per carat basis, but it was not the one she really felt excited about. She made the right choice in going with her heart and not her head!

Diamond Grading report (certificate)

Today, few fine diamonds over one carat are sold without a diamond grading report (or certificate, as they are also called) from a respected laboratory. Reports issued by the GIA, Gem Trade laboratory, are the most widely used in the United States and in many countries around the world.
A grading report does more than certify the diamond's genuineness; it fully describes the stone and evaluates each of the critical factors affecting quality, beauty, and value. The information they contain can provide verification of the facts as represented by the seller and enable one to make a safer decision when purchasing a diamond. Another important function of the reports is to verify the identity of the specific diamond at some some future time. Also for insurance purposes, the the information provided on the report will ensure replacement of the lost or stolen diamond with one that is truly compatible quality.

The availability and widespread use of these reports can, when properly understood, enable even those without professional skills to make valid comparison between several diamonds and more informed buying decisions.

Most Frequent Dangers Travelers May Face

Travelling is a lot of fun, but unfortunately many travelers still don't take seriously the latest travel cautions from authorities such as British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to take care about their safety. Many travelers deeply regret not taking out travel insurance, especially when realizing that an emergency abroad can be extremely expensive. So, here are the most frequent unpleasant cases that happened with travellers on vacations based on recent statistics of FCO.

Personal accidents

Many people have reported personal accidents such as:

moped and motorbike accidents;

drink and drug-related incidents;

natural death, accidental death and murder. There were 5,972 reported deaths of UK citizens in the last 12 months from a mixture including natural death, accidental death and murder.

Stolen, lost or damaged possessions

The most frequent problem encountered by British tourists is a problem of stolen passports - 25,969 reported incidents worldwide.

FCO calls on tourists to carry their passport in their pocket and never ever leave it unattended at any time. It is even better to take a photocopy of a passport and other important documents and to keep them separately from the originals.

Airline Failure

Many people were relieved that they were covered by their travel insurance for Scheduled Airline Failure following the recent demise of Spanair and also Hungary's national carrier Malev, and others found that their policy left them high and dry. It is very likely in this financial climate that other airlines will get into a similar state, so it makes sense to ensure that you are covered - just in case.

Food troubles

Travel agents and insurance companies receive an increased number of claims from tourists who drank or ate something bad causing severe sickness. We all know how expensive medical treatment is if you don't have insurance policy that covers this case. There have been serious illnesses and even fatal cases recently, mainly in Indonesia, India, and Turkey where drinks have been contaminated with methanol, so please take extra care when drinking local brews. Please remember that the costs associated with repatriation often greatly exceed the cost of the medical treatment and you should ensure this is covered by your travel insurance policy.

Diseases

We recommend you to research your holiday destination and take all recommended precautions because extra care and good hygiene are essential whilst travelling anywhere (even when you're not travelling, but that's a whole different story).

Many cases of various diseases while being on vacation have been reported. Think twice before you decide on getting a tattoo, body piercing, manicure, or even a haircut or any treatment somewhere where there is a risk of skin damage. What you might bring home is more than you just a nice tattoo, unless you make sure that the equipment has been properly sterilised before it is reused.

Thus, always be careful about what you eat, drink and do while enjoying your vacation. Take all actions possible to have a great time without ever having to regret about your actions.

Before going on trip think of the fact that there are the noteworthy reasons why FCO and insurance companies often emphasize the importance of travel insurance - even for short trips within Europe and outside of it.

Silk Envelopes, the Cheaper & Low Weight Alternative to Silk Wedding Invitation Boxes

The trendy and sophisticated bride of today knows, padded silk envelopes are the most exclusive and outstanding way to present wedding invitations at low cost. Silk invitation boxes are great, don't get me wrong, but some bride has a limited budget considering all the other little things she needs to spend money for.

The wide variety of silk colors and materials enables to match the silk envelope to any color scheme. There is for example faux silk, an artificial but still elegant silk fiber, followed by pure Thai silk a natural silk fiber or dupioni silk, also a natural fiber with a more rough structure. And for all those who still want to beat the price, shiny polyester satin is the cheapest option to use.

The silk envelope can be ordered generally in any size. Just check the size of your invitation card and order the invitation envelope slightly bigger. Silk envelopes are usually closed with an elegant button or if required with a decorative tassel.
Each envelope comes padded to protect the wedding invitation cards from pressure and damages.

Personalize it! If you feel you wish to add a unique touch, try the initials embroidery service. Initials can be added small or big and on any side or position of the envelope.

Last but not least consider the delivery cost when sending your wedding invitation cards in a light weight padded silk envelope. Very low. We advise to slide each ready made invitation envelope in a slightly bigger paper envelope. This allows easy labeling of the addresses and protection of the silk surface.

Have fun choosing colors and designs!

9 Step Baby Shower Checklist

Planning a baby shower can be a lot of fun, but it can also be quite stressful if you have never done any event planning before. Below is a checklist of the nine most crucial elements in planning a baby shower, or any major event for that matter.

1) Date. The first thing you need to decide for any event or party you are planning is when it is going to be held, and baby showers are no exception. One of the main goals of a shower, especially for a first time mother, is to prepare her for the baby's arrival. Guests usually bring gifts such as baby clothing, cribs, diapers, strollers, car seats, bottles, pacifiers, and other items a mother might find helpful when taking care of her newborn. For this reason, baby showers are usually held before the baby is born, but there are a few women who are superstitious and think that it is bad luck to have a baby shower until after the baby has arrived. Make sure to check with the mother-to-be and see when she would like to have her shower.

2) Location. It is best not to have the baby shower at the new mother or mother-to-be's house so she won't be burdened with cleaning up afterwards.

3) Time. Discuss whether she would like the shower to be in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Remember to take meal times into consideration. For example, if you have the shower at noon, guests will probably come expecting to have lunch. If you are only planning on having cake or light snacks, don't plan to have the event during times that are generally considered to be lunch or dinner hours.

4) Guest List. You need to decide whom you are going to invite to the event. Get a list from the mother-to-be of all the people she wants to include at her shower. Typically baby showers are a "girls only" event, but some women may prefer to include men as well. Another aspect to decide is if you are going to 'allow' children. Of course, new babies will have to come, but some mum's prefer to leave toddlers and the older children at home or with a sitter so it is best if there is an agreement all round on this.

5) Invitations. Once you have your date, time, location, and guest-list down, you need to make sure to send out invitations. Make sure you include baby registry information so guests can see what the mother needs for her new baby and what she already has. Also make sure guests know who to RSVP to. If you want you can buy cards or you can make up something original on the computer.

6) Theme. Obviously the main theme is babies, but for decoration purposes you might want to choose a sub-theme. For example, if the child is a boy, you might want to have a simple "blue" theme and have blue plates, napkins, streamers, and other decorations. Other fun decorating themes can include dinosaurs, teddy bears, trucks, or other things normally associated with little boys.

7) Food. Plan appetizers or maybe even a light lunch or breakfast for your guests. Cake is a must, so decide what kind you would like to get and whether you are going to make it yourself or order one from a bakery. Also try to have the cake color or design tie in with the theme of the shower.

8) Entertainment. Plan some games for the guests to enjoy. There are thousands of popular baby shower games that you can find online, or you can make up your own. Interactive games are really good because not everyone knows everyone else at a baby shower and the idea is to have people meet others before the wedding day.

9) Itinerary. To make sure your shower goes off without a hitch, make a rough plan of when you are going to do the activities you have planned. For example, once everyone has arrived you might have one of the games where people learn each others names and then time could be spent mingling and eating. After that the games could be played when everyone is more relaxed and wrap up the day with the mother opening her gifts. The shower should run about two hours to three hours.

Have fun! Remember to relax a little, and don't stress so much over the details that you are unable to enjoy yourself. New babies make everyone happy, so even if your baby shower does not go as perfectly as you planned, chances are your guests will still have a good time, and the mother-to-be will be more than grateful for all your help! I just love watching a new mum opening her presents because she is so excited and can't wait for her new baby to arrive.

Beautiful and Affordable Do it Yourself Wedding Invitations

Weddings can be extremely expensive with all the flowers, the dress, the cake, and the location. There are some things that you cannot do yourself, such as the dress, unless you're a professional seamstress, but there are some things that you can do yourself, such as do it yourself wedding invitations.

Invitations are very simple to create and the difference in price between getting them done professionally and doing them yourself is immense. For example, a set of one hundred very simple, some might say even boring, looking wedding invitations from David's Bridal are well over one hundred dollars with most priced at almost two hundred dollars. You could buy nice cardstock from Target for twenty dollars. That is for a package of sixty pieces of cardstock but the paper could be cut in half to make one hundred and twenty invitations. Then, you can buy ribbon for five dollars a roll, or even cheaper if you search the clearance section, and print them yourself at home.

Any word processing program has nice lettering and even nice clip art that you could use. So, instead of spending one or two dollars per invitation, you could spend about forty cents. Target also carries heavy-weight, colorful envelopes that are nine dollars for twenty five envelopes. So, even with the envelopes, you are still only going to spend about seventy two cents instead of almost two dollars.

You might be worried about the time that it will take you to produce the invitations especially since you are most likely already planning a wedding and it feels like you have no time. It will probably take you only ten minutes since all you have to do is choose a font, choose a picture, type what you want the invitation to say, and hit print.

After all the invitations are printed you just need to cut your cardstock in half which, with the help of a paper cutter, can be done in about ten seconds. Then you tie a ribbon around each one, and put them in the envelopes. To minimize the time even further, instead of writing out the addresses on each envelope, you could buy pretty labels, use a nice font, and print them out on your computer. Then all you would need to do is stick them on the envelope and drop them in your mailbox.

Do it yourself wedding invitations are a simple way to save money but look like you've spent a lot.

Baby Shower Favors and Themes - Fun, Fancy, Or Formal

Planning a baby shower can be fun but at the same time it can be a bit overwhelming. There is so much to take into account, such as new baby shower trends, baby shower etiquette, and baby shower favors and treats. Of course you'll need party supplies and decorations. If you are on a tight budget you may want to be creative and save money by making your own baby shower decorations. Formal etiquette suggests that relatives should not throw the shower (since it may seem like the family is asking for presents). However, it seems that people these days are ignoring these traditional rules and formal etiquette is becoming outdated. Relatives, close friends, or close coworkers should feel comfortable to plan a baby shower.   Most baby showers are thrown before the baby's due date. Even though you can throw it after the baby is born (especially if the parents don't know the gender of the baby), a shower can be a nice distraction near the end of a pregnancy. Also, it may be the last party the mother will be able to enjoy for awhile and she may want to have a party without a baby in her arms. Uusally, everyone imagines a baby shower with the expectant mother sporting a large, round belly.

Choosing a baby shower theme can tie everything together and help you make decisions about the various components of the party. A good theme adds a special element to the baby shower, and it can reflect a lot about the mother-to-be and even about her hostess. Themes can be customary colors that indicate the baby's gender or simply something whimsical or fun. Whatever theme you decide to go with, make sure the expecting mother would like it. This is a good first step to take before choosing invitations, decorations, and food.   The type of food you choose to serve will probably depend on the time of day, the budget, and how fancy or informal the shower will be. You can even try to match the food to the theme. You can serve anything from sandwiches, finger foods, and fries to snacks and dips.   Baby showers usually call for some amusing or silly games. There are a many kinds of activities to keep the guests entertained. You can try some popular games like diaper games, bingo games, baby name games, and word games. These games will add fun and make the shower more meaningful. It is also common to provide baby party favors to everyone at the party or just offer prizes to the guests who win games.

When deciding on a date to set for throwing the party, you should make sure to consult with the soon-to-be mom so that you prevent any scheduling conflicts. You also want to ensure you can accommodate the schedule of important out of town guests, such as grandmothers. It would be a big mistake to plan a party and send out invitations, just to find out many of the guests won't be able to make it. Be creative, read up on some common tips and advice, and you'll be on your way to throwing a fun, enjoyable baby shower.
