Owning a Classic Car - The Basics

Owning a classic car is a dream for many people. It can however be a costly and time consuming hobby. Classic car ownership has many subtle differences to owning a regular vehicle and so potential buyers should take their time before making their purchase.

Where to Buy

Just as with buying an everyday vehicle buyers of classics have many options in where to look for their new car. Places to look include classic car magazines, newspapers and the internet. There is certainly no shortage of classic cars for sale. A popular place to purchase a classic car is at a specialist auction. By taking their time and attending a number of auctions it is possible for classic car enthusiasts to uncover an absolute bargain.

Wherever the vehicle is being bought there are a number of things the buyer can do to ensure that they are getting a good deal. Before making the purchase a close inspection of the vehicle should be carried out. The outward appearance of the car should reflect its mileage. A common check is to compare the mileage shown on the odometer with the condition of the rubber cover of the brake pedal and see if they tally.

Insurance

To be eligible for classic car insurance the car must be at least 15 years old. Insuring a classic car differs from insuring a regular vehicle. In normal vehicle insurance the amount to be paid out in the event of a total loss will be equal to the value of the car at the time that the claim is made. In other words the payout is equal to the depreciated value of the car.

For classic car insurance the process is different. The amount paid in the event of a claim is pre-arranged at the time the insurance policy is taken out. When taking out the insurance policy the owner first needs to get the car appraised. This appraisal will set the value of the vehicle and this amount will not change no matter when the claim is made.

Transporting

Many classic cars are simply too valuable to be driven, certainly not over a long distance, and so if the car needs to be moved an alternative method must be found. There are several companies in the UK who specialise in the transportation of classic cars. Transporting classic vehicles is usually done using covered transporter trailers.

The use of a covered trailer is a sensible choice for classic vehicle owners. By keeping the car covered it is protected against the weather and accidental damage. It is also kept away from the eyes of thieves. Drivers of these types of trailers have specialist experience in transporting prestige vehicles and so owners can be sure that there car is in safe hands.

Ten Tips For an Affordable Wedding

I have been researching how people with a small budget making their wedding affordable and think these 10 little tips can be useful for people who have small budget.

Ten Tips for an affordable wedding:

1. Marry on a not popular time. When you marry on a monday it is a lot cheaper then marrying on a Friday or Saturday.

2. The season that you marry in. Did you know the most people marry in the summer or the winter? An autumn wedding or a winter wedding is a lot cheaper then a summer wedding and they can be so beautiful! Think back to the wedding of Miranda and Steve in Sex and the City in the gorgeous autumn garden. Another thought is a winter wedding in a big Forrest, snow on the threes, a beautiful sight. Often you can get great discounts on wedding cars, wedding locations, etc. in these seasons.

3.Buy an affordable wedding gown and beautify it yourself. The diva under the wedding dresses is of course the top, but they are very expensive. The average wedding dress costs around the one thousand pounds. Our tip: buy a cheap, simple wedding dress and give it a stunning look by wearing the perfect shoes, jewelry, haircut and make-up. Do you really have a low budget then you can always look for a fabulous gala dress or evening dress.

4.Save money on bridal flowers and bouquets. A bridal bouquet costs around 70 and 150 pounds! One beautiful flower in your hands is just as pretty. The bridal bouquet is a typical traditional thing. Nowadays a lot of people get rid of the bridal bouquet and use the money for the decoration of the wedding location.

5. The thank you gifts for your guest do not have to be very expensive. If you are a little bit of a creative person you can think of something that is fun and costs little money. The key is to make a personal gift. It can be a handwritten note with a own baked cookie, it is personal. Burn some cd's with your favorite songs and create the cd-inlay. Use your talent or use the talent of friends and you will see it doesn't have to cost a lot.

6. The wedding cake is one of the eye catchers on a wedding. The average cost of a wedding cake is around the 250 pounds. Wedding Cake makers never define how much it is for the whole cake but usually they define the costs per person. An average wedding cake costs 7 pounds a piece. The wedding cake maker usually haves a minimum take of 30 persons per wedding cake. Thirty persons, seven pounds a piece is 210 pounds. A fun way to make it a lot cheaper is to have a table full of cupcakes. An cute decorated cupcake, f.e. with someone names one it, costs 2 a 3 pounds a piece. Three pounds, thirty persons makes a total of 90 pounds, a good way to save money.

7. Save on the wedding rings. Buying a wedding ring is hopefully a one time business. Saving on a nice wedding ring is probably the last thing you want to save on. Nowadays there are a lot websites that offer wedding rings cheaper then most real stores ca. The websites do not have pay rent for their shop or something like that and you will see that back in the price of the wedding rings they offer online. You can save up to 20 % by buying your wedding ring online.

8. A wedding photographer is also a cut that most people don't want to make. It keeps the memory of your beautiful wedding alive. If you are really on a low budget this is a nice tip: buy a dozen Polaroid camera's in a budget store or online. You can let your wedding guests make photo's of your wedding. you will get a very personal photo collection of your wedding.

9. Save on wedding invitations. You or one of your talented friends can make beautiful wedding invitations in Adobe Photo shop or another design software. Do it yourself!

10. Do not invite everybody. If you don't invite every person you know. Not the mailman, the butcher, the friend of a friend of a friend, you can keep the wedding small, personal and private. A private wedding with only friends and family that mean a lot to you makes it very special. When you f.e. have 10 guests instead of 200 a wedding on Hawaii suddenly looks achievable.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck with your wedding planning.

The Amazing History of Wedding Invitations

Have you ever wondered where and why people started sending wedding invitations?

They actually started a long time ago all the way back in the 12th century which was before the ever popular printing presses had even been invented. The way people invited others to weddings back in this time was 100% word of mouth. They didn't just invite people that they knew, although the towns were a bit smaller back then so they probably knew a lot of the people. They would walk down the streets of the city announcing their wedding as loud as they possibly could and anyone that could hear the announcement was automatically invited to the wedding. Obviously wedding didn't cost as much back then.

Besides not having any mass printing capabilities, the main problem back in the middle ages was that most people could not even read. Typically monks were hired to make a wedding announcement and instead of writing to many words they would put on the family crest symbol to let the people know who was getting married. This reason is why you see so many crests or coat of arms on many of the invitations today. The crest is not just used for show and because it looks pretty, but back then it served a great purpose. Also, back in the middle ages the announcements showed your place on the social ladder because they were usually sent to only people in the highest classes.

By the early 1600s the printing press had finally arrived and could be used for wedding invitations. However, it was only used to announce marriages in the newspaper because the ink was smudgy and didn't look good for invitations. Ludwig Von Siegen created the metal plate engravings in the mid 1600s and made it possible to for the common people to send out their own wedding invitations. The metal plate engraver is basically like a big rubber stamp that you might use today. There is only one down side to the metal plate engravings and that was the fact the ink would smear. The smearing was helped and greatly reduced by placing a piece of tissue paper over the ink. Not only did this help the smudging but looked great too.

Finally people started creating their own invitations by hand by the 1900s you could purchase your wedding invitation in bulk. They typically would only mail out the invitations a few weeks before the wedding. This is where the double envelopes came into place. People would use two envelopes because the horse delivery was so rough that if you only had 1 envelope on it might get ruined.

Now you might look at wedding invitations a bit differently and realize there is a lot of history and reasoning behind every little piece of the classic wedding invitation and not take for granted how easy it is to send out an invitation. Today you can easily get your wedding invitations printed and mailed in beautiful paper, ribbons, fonts and packaging.

Insurance For The Disc Jockey

Most disc jockeys forge ahead into the DJ world full of enthusiasm, and make their top priority the purchase of their equipment. Visions of mixers, speakers, cd decks, turntables, and effects flow through their minds. That's all fine and expected, but when such a focus is put on the DJ's gear; it makes no sense not to protect that investment.

Protecting the equipment with proper casing for transport is recommended and a smart practice, but that is not the focus of this article.

Strange as it may seem, many Djs operate without an insurance policy to protect them from a lawsuit. Mobile Djs operate on location and are required to carry a liability policy so that they will not be personally responsible should they be faced with a lawsuit. A liability policy - which can many times be purchased from standard car insurance companies - will ensure that the Dj's personal assets are not attacked in a lawsuit.

The profession of Djing has gone through radical changes in the last decade. Equipment has grown in all arenas. Speakers have gotten a major overhaul. They are lighter, cleaner in sound, and more powerful. Many are even self powered, where a separate amplifier is not required.

Advances in computer technology has allowed for today's Djs to operate with a laptop computer and proper software. In an industry where it's practitioners had to carry heavy turntables and crates of records, modern day Djs may never touch a cd. One can only hope that the new wave of thinking will carry on into the arena of proper business practice where insurance is concerned.

It makes no sense to invest so much into equipment and then have a flagrant disregard for protecting a business and it's assets.

Insurance companies have become aware of the mobile DJ profession and many car insurance providers have responded by offering discounted plans for thaose Djs that choose to combine their car and liability insurance with the same carrier. It's as simple as going online to a few car insurance providers and filling out quote request forms to find the best rate.

All prospective Djs would be well advised to find adequate insurance before forging ahead into the entertainment world. As has been said about insurance: "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."

The 10 Secrets You Must Know To Choose A Good Wedding Photographer

Selecting your wedding photographer is not a difficult task. By learning my 10 secrets you will eliminate many of the pitfalls it is so easy to fall into. It is very important that you make your selection of photographer early on in your wedding plans. The best and most popular photographers get booked early, often a year or two in advance. So once you have set your date and arranged the wedding venue, the next thing on your list should be your photographer.

If you were getting married a generation ago in the 1930's or 40's, your choice would have been rather limited. In those days photography was still something of a 'dark art'. Literally the photographer or his assistant would spend hours in the dark room developing films and making photographic prints by hand. Your options for the wedding day would have been limited. The photographer would usually turn up at the end of your wedding service and meet you at the church door. He would then take a handful of pictures on his large camera. Usually a full length picture of the couple at the church door, a close-up if you were lucky and then perhaps a family group or two. Colour pictures were a definite luxury in the 30's as colour film was still in its infancy. A talented photographer might offer you hand tinted or coloured pictures which he would make from black and white originals, but these would be an expensive option.

It was not uncommon to take a trip to the photographers studio either on your wedding day or shortly afterwards. The whole business became quite an occasion. Posing in front of hot studio lights was something you only did on special occasions. It was the only way to get photographs of a reasonable quality. Simple cameras were becoming more available to the public, but they were very basic with few control. In those days the professional photographer still had a mysterious quality; part artist, part chemist and part magician. He could produce photographs you just could not achieve yourself with your 'Box Brownie' camera.

Today things are very different. Photography has been turned on its head. Gone are the famous companies like Agfa and Kodak. Film based photography has been replaced almost entirely by digital technology, the quality of which improves dramatically year by year. Most people now have a camera of some type and are happy with the pictures they take. Rapid advances in digital imaging have ensured that the 'auto' function on your camera will give you an acceptable image. Today you don't have to worry about shutter speed and 'f' stops to get a reasonable picture. Point and shoot is the easy option. However, technical progress does not mean that everyone knows what they are doing.

Look in any Yellow Pages or any other directory, Google 'wedding photographer' for any town or city and you will find an ever increasing number of entries under the listing. Why is this? It is simply because technology has improved to such an extent that even the most modest and affordable camera is capable of producing great images.

Sadly you will discover that not every so called photographer is a professional photographer. Some work at it on a part time basis and might be a cleaner, taxi driver or office worker from Monday to Friday and a wedding photographer at the weekend. It has become a part time occupation for many keen amateurs looking to make some extra cash at the weekend.

The questions you must ask yourself are; would I go to a dentist if I wasn't confident they had the training, experience and qualifications to take care of my teeth safely and hygienically? Would I trust a plumber to install a gas fire if he were not qualified and registered? No, it could be a matter of life and death.

Would I trust my wedding pictures to a photographer who might be working part time at weekends, shoots everything with his camera set to 'auto', promises me hundreds of pictures on a disc for a few hundred pounds? Sadly many people do!

The reasons for doing this are intriguing. Apart from the technology issue I have already mentioned, the other current influence is fashion. The current fashion in wedding photography can be described by the terms 'documentary', 'reportage', and 'life-style'. In a nut shell, today it is cool and fashionable to have wedding photographs that look like snap-shots! Pictures that look spontaneous, which is not staged and capture the emotion of the day without being intrusive or formal in any way.

What does all this mean in reality? Firstly, it is assumed that to achieve this 'documentary' or 'reportage' look, all you need to do is to take an inordinate number of pictures and chances are that you will get some suitable ones in the mix. So snap away is the mentality of many inexperienced photographers. After all, after you have bought your camera and memory cards, the images are free. There are no processing costs as with film, if the image is no good just delete it, it costs nothing!

In reality, to take good 'documentary' images you also need other skills. You need to anticipate the action, be in the right place at the right time, know when to press the shutter to get that decisive moment, know how to cope with a variety of lighting conditions that will fool your camera, compose your picture correctly, and finally be able to control the guests in such a way that things you want to photograph happen naturally.

How do you avoid the pitfalls? It can be difficult, but here are 10 secrets that will help you when choosing your wedding photographer!

1. Looking in a directory will only give you contact details. Looking at a web site is a good start; at least you get to see some pictures. Today a good and well produced web site is within the budget of most people who want to set up in business. So you cannot assume that someone with a fancy web site is the best choice. He may have another occupation to pay the mortgage. Does the web site have a bio page? How much information does it give about the photographer, their experience and their professional qualifications? How long have they been in business?

2. Do they belong to a recognised professional photographic association, or just a camera club? Are they subject to a professional Code of Conduct? Will you have anywhere to appeal to if things go wrong? Sadly a man can go to town and buy a fancy camera with his redundancy money on Friday and call himself a professional photographer on Saturday. In the U.K. there is no regulation of photographers at the moment. Anyone can legally set themselves up in business as a photographer and they do not have to register with anyone. The public is not protected by any legislation. Over the years the major professional photographic associations in the U.K. have lobbied successive governments regarding this matter, but without success.

3. Is a postal address listed on the web site, or just a mobile number and email address? How will you find them if there is a problem? Not every photographer has a high street studio, much work from home quite legitimately. A reputable photographer will always publish an address.

4. If the photographer works from home he/she is unlikely to have a large studio unless it has been purpose built or adapted from a garage or other room. They are unlikely to be taking many portraits during the week. Can you arrange to visit them to view a recent selection of wedding pictures, or do they insist on coming to see you at your home? When it comes to looking at samples, albums containing a variety of weddings can look fine. Photographers always like to show off their best pictures. Always ask to see complete weddings from start to finish. That will give you a better indication of the photographers' skill level, rather than admiring pretty pictures.

5. Are they qualified? I'm not talking of a degree in photography. To my knowledge there are no degree courses in wedding photography at any college in the U.K. There are degree courses in Documentary photography, but weddings or social photography are not covered in any depth. There are wedding qualifications awarded by the main photographic bodies in the U.K., such as the MPA, BIPP, SWPP. These are awarded by the submission of actual work that has been undertaken. So look for professional qualifications. There are three levels: the basic level being Licentiate (LMPA or LBIPP). This level indicates the photographer can produce work of a competent and professional standard. They will also have good business skills if they have achieved a Diploma in Professional Photographic Practice (DipPP). The second level of qualification is the Associate (AMPA or ABIPP). This indicates considerable experience and a talent to produce artistic and creative photography. The second level is difficult to attain, therefore there are fewer Associates than Licentiates. The top level of qualification and ultimate aim of all aspiring professionals is to be a Fellow (FMPA or FBIPP). To be a Fellow is a rare achievement. It indicates the highest level of competence, experience and artistry and indicates the photographer has a unique style. These are the top professionals who have been recognised as leaders in their field.

6. Who will be taking your wedding photographs? Get to meet the person him/herself. Many photographers rather than turn a wedding commission away, will sub-contract the work to an assistant, keen amateur, or camera operator. Always find out who your photographer will be and get to see their portfolio of work. The boss might take good pictures, but what about his assistant?

7. Ask what insurance they hold. Your 'cowboy' will not have Professional Indemnity cover if his equipment fails. He will not have Public Liability cover should a guest trip over his camera bag. If he says his camera is insured that's not the same thing. That only covers him if his camera is stolen.

8. Don't be fooled by statements like 'award winning'. Always ask "what awards"! Are they recognised professional awards or something picked up at a Camera Club?

9. If you ask a technical question this will put everyone on the back foot. Ask if they shoot jpegs. If the answer is yes then beware! The vast majority of professional photographers worldwide will shoot RAW files in their camera, for maximum image quality. They will then spend time to editing these RAW files on a computer to produce jpegs. If your photographer argues that he doesn't need to shoot RAW files because his jpegs are spot on... beware! Jpeg files produced directly by the camera are never as good as those prepared by editing RAW files manually, because the internal camera software always makes general assumptions on the subject and lighting conditions. The photographer who edits RAW files manually can make specific and individual fine adjustments to the exposure, white balance, tone & sharpness of each image, together with an array of other specific controls which will produce the highest quality images.

10. Ask what happens if they become ill the day before your wedding? What happens if they break a leg or are involved in an accident? What back-up is in place? A reputable photographer will have a network of qualified colleagues he can call upon either locally or via their professional association.

So now you have the 10 secrets to finding your wedding photographer. Always meet them face to face and discuss your plans in detail. He will probably know your wedding venue already and will be able to put your mind at ease should it rain on your big day. If you are interested in having some group photographs of your family and friends, make a list with names so that no one is left out or hides away. 'Brides family' is not very specific, list the people you want in the picture. If your dress detail is important or Aunty Betty made the cake, or you have a frail Granny who can't stand up for long, you must tell your photographer so he can make allowances.

Your photographer will need time to take pictures for you, so it is important that you plan for and consider timings. If you really want a big picture with all the guests as soon as you get to the reception, it won't work. Guests always arrive in dribs and drabs and someone will be missing. Rather plan for that picture to be taken just before you all go into your wedding breakfast. There will be more chance everyone will be present.

Once you have selected your photographer you will need to confirm your booking. Don't leave it until the last moment assuming your kind photographer is holding the day for you. He/she has a business to run so expect to pay a deposit or booking fee to secure the day. When you book expect to sign a contract which simply states what will be provided and the fee expected. This is usual practice. Generally all outstanding fees are payable prior to the wedding. Finally, just to avoid surprises, ask about hidden fees. Is VAT included or are you going to get a nasty 20% addition at the end of the day.

At some stage you might ask the question "Who owns the copyright on my wedding pictures?" In the U.K. by law the copyright is owned by the photographer on the understanding that they will supply you with any images you require. If you are in China, Asia, India and many other countries in the world, copyright and intellectual property is another ball game and mine field!

In summary, the better you get to know your photographer, the better your experience will be. Many people say "Oh, I hate having my photograph taken"! If you choose an experienced photographer, he/she will put you at easy very quickly. If you have the opportunity, have a pre-wedding shoot. It is true that the more pictures you have taken of yourself, the more comfortable you will feel in front of the camera. A good photographer will give you tips on how to stand comfortably and how to make the best of your body shape. He will also explain exactly what he will be doing on your wedding day to get the best pictures for you.

The choices you make in booking your wedding photographer are very important. A good wedding photographer will act as your choreographer, be more useful than a bridesmaid and tell you what to do and when. He'll have safety pins and a mirror in his bag just in case, and he'll be the person you can trust to make sure everything flows smoothly, and ensure you have the best possible wedding day.

Uncle Bob - The Ultimate Cheap Photographer

In this day and age of trying to do your wedding on a budget, many brides are going for the ultimate "cheap wedding photographer" which amounts to a friend who "loves photography", an aspiring photographer who wants to create a portfolio and will work for "free" (or close to free) or worse yet, Uncle Bob with his "great camera" who takes all the photos at the family gatherings.

While I do understand the economic times well and the need to cut corners like never before, I strongly advise against any of the above options unless you, the bride, are willing to lower your photographic expectations to equal your financial expectations. You simply cannot expect consistently beautiful representations of your day for free, or next to free. You are not going to be happy, trust me. "Free" may be your friend when budgeting, but when all is said and done, it isn't and may result in a loss of a friend.

Let's look at this - when you begin to look for an affordable photographer on a restricted budget, are you considering talking to the photographer who's work you like about what they may or may not be able to do for you or are you immediately going for the big three freebies named above? Most seasoned, experienced wedding photographers are dropping their prices due to the economy. But, you have free wedding photographers, so.....let's review:

The "friend who loves photography" isn't going to love you, nor are you going to love her when it is all said and done. She likely has absolutely no idea what is entailed in shooting a wedding for one thing. Another big point is she doesn't understand that she is no longer "part of the party" but must be the outsider looking in, and she has to be good. Very good, under these circumstances. She has to know that you need photos of you and great Aunt Susan, even if you don't think of it. If you want to be the director all day, fine. But haven't you had to play director for this day for a whole year? Wouldn't it be nice it the photographer knew what needed to be done without your input? And when she realizes that she has hours upon hours of "fixing" the photos combined with your anxiousness to see them and she fails to deliver what you expected and she "worked so hard" - where is the friendship now?

The Aspiring Photographer is a crap shoot. They obviously know the gear, have had some experience, usually as a second photographer to a pro and are launching on their own. Will trade for Portfolio is the song they sing. The inherent problem with this is that while they may have (and probably do have) some weddings under their belt, they are underestimating the lead photographer who tells them where to be, what to shoot and sets everything up. They think they can do that too. Maybe they can, maybe they can't. I have launched two of my second photographers' careers. I've had 8. Only two have worked hard enough and long enough with me that I would trust them to be lead photographers. Both of them had 100 weddings under their belts as my assistant before I felt they knew what to do. The words "I assisted so and so a couple times" are not your friend. This is a once in a lifetime deal.

Does Uncle Bob drink? Is he expecting to work all day and night without really socializing with anyone else from the family? That is what your professional photographer does. Its not a party for us, our "socializing" is in the form of making other people comfortable, but not distract us from capturing the moments you love and will likely forget. Ah - the meaning of "capture the moment" - one must actually be aware enough to "see" the moment to capture it. Experience. And poor Uncle Bob; he's trying to do something lovely for you to save you money, and he's going to disappoint you at the very least or worse, miss half your wedding.

Free is not your friend. Affordable wedding photography of quality is out there. It can be found. It takes some research. Like I said, many of us are lowering our prices quite significantly because we don't want to see it all go up in smoke.

Of course, not everyone has artistic talent, and if you are one of them, you may need the help of a creative friend or relative. Hire a professional designer as a last resort.

Tip #3 - Develop Samples

Never buy all your materials for your DIY wedding invitations without making a few samples first. Try out several designs and mark down which materials you used. Your notes will help you to remember which supplies you need for the invitation layout you like best.

Tip # 4 - Determine How Many Invitations You Need.

You need to make up your guest list before ordering your craft materials or DIY wedding invitation kits. Add a few extra to your list in case you have to send out last minute invitations.

Tip #5 - Select Paper, Fonts & Other Printing Essentials

Depending on what type of invitation paper you are using, you may need a commercial printer. Generally, home printers can only handle thinner paper types. If your printer is unsuitable, your text will look messy. You will also have to compose your text, and select a font and letter size that suits your DIY invitations.

Tip #6 - Buy Wedding Invitation Materials

Once you have your list, buy your materials. Ideally, wait for a sale, but that is not always possible. If you are having a blitz wedding you simply cannot wait. Nevertheless, check out several suppliers and compare prices. Saving a few dollars here and there can make a big difference at the end.

Tip #7 - DIY Invitations Assembly

This is the perfect time to ask your bridesmaids, friends or family members to give you a hand. Set up an assembly line, giving each member a specific task to do. Your DIY wedding invitations will be ready in no time. Invite a few extra people to make address labels and stuff the envelopes.

Tip # 8- Mailing your Invitations

Try to mail your DIY wedding invitations a few months in advance. This will give all your guests enough time to plan and respond. Before sending off your invitation, make sure RSVP cards and envelopes are included. Without confirmations, you may not know how many people to expect for the ceremony and reception.

Don't Get Stuck Paying $25 a Plate - Great Cheap Wedding Reception Ideas

It's no surprise that the cost of your wedding reception is supposed to be half of your budget-once you start researching venues and gathering prices, you see right away that wedding reception venues are meant to clear out an excited bride's wallet. You don't have to go that route! There are some awesome cheap wedding reception ideas that can save you a lot of money.

o If you want to save the most money possible, rule out any venue that requires you to use their in-house caterer. This will always be more expensive than price shopping-independent caterers are more responsive to their customers' needs and are more willing to work with your budget.

o In the event that you really want to have your reception at a hotel or banquet hall that uses an in-house caterer, consider booking a "party", not a "wedding reception". Many people have booked a party, then called and booked a wedding for the same night, same amount of guests, and same amount of food. In just about every case, the price quote for a wedding reception was considerably higher than a party price quote-for no reason other than the fact that it was a wedding! Be careful if you do this-at some point, they'll realize it's a wedding, and you have to think if it's worth it to you possibly getting charged more once they figure it out.

o Compare, compare, compare! Look at as many different caterers' menus as you can-you'll get the best idea for pricing in your area and have a bargaining ground to start with.

o If there's a certain restaurant or type of food you love, even if it's not traditional wedding food, check it out! My wedding reception was catered by Qdoba-hardly typical wedding food, but everyone loved it and it was a lot cheaper than a regular caterer.

o Some reception halls and reception venues don't require that your food be from a licensed food distributor. If you have a large church family or group of friends that love to cook, think about doing a potluck-homemade food is delicious and most of the times, better than restaurant food. You will save lots of money and everyone will get to contribute to your wedding!

Although this may seem like a more difficult way of planning your reception, it will be worth the money you save! Another perk is that your guests will notice the individuality present in your wedding and remember it forever.

Have You Ever Considered A Working Holiday?

The idea of a working holiday may be intriguing for many people. In fact, there are already thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people from the UK already benefiting from extended holidays. To explain further, working holiday schemes, are general agreements between different countries that allow their citizens to travel and work temporarily in each country. The eligibility and criteria are unique to each individual country. And employment does not necessarily have to be arranged before travelling.

Many students take advantage of working holidays to finance their gap years. The work involved can range from teaching English, to simply undertaking manual work such as cleaning and general retail employment.

The first step after deciding on the duration and the desired destination, is to research the required Visa. This will ensure that your stay is legal, and will reduce any delays at the airport or border and will ultimately help guarantee there are no problems further down the line. For example, to take part in a working holiday in Australia you must be aged between 18 and 30. be an eligible passport holder and this entails that you obtain a working holiday visa, which gives you only 12 months to work and travel in Australia. Other country visa's will have different requirements and will all vary.

One of the most common jobs that are undertaken when deciding to take a working holiday, is to teach English as a foreign language, otherwise known as TEFL. The reason this is the most popular choice is down to the fact that there is mass appeal and demand. After achieving a TEFL certificate, his will allow anyone to work within different education systems around the world. If educations systems are not preferred, there are other option such as private language institutions, local business and private tutoring are always on the table.

There are many internships that currently provide accommodation and pay for all training. This will allow for great flexibility to travel and keep expenses down.

Another area that is vital to undertaking a year long working holiday is to obtain appropriate travel insurance. Unlike the traditional insurance that is used for a week, or a two week holiday. This should cover medical insurance, luggage cover and personal property for the entire duration of your stay. Because the trip will be for an extended period, it's worth declaring or identifying specific activities, to see if they are covered within the agreement. And also ensuring if you leave the country between the duration is it still valid. It's all in the details.

If you haven't already thought about it, a year without physical interaction with close friends and family. It's best to utilise different forms of communication. This can range from simple emails, to video chat. Many begin a blog that can help document their travels. Almost, like an online diary that allows for images and videos with content to be uploaded at the end of each day. Making it easier for everyone to be kept up-to-date and experience all your recent discovering with you.

Free Wedding Invitation Wording

You probably have a very beautiful wedding invitation card design, but now you are trying to figure out how to write the wordings. You are probably saying to yourself, "I have no idea how to write wedding invitation wording." You are not alone because a lot of people do not know how to either. Before starting your own verse, you can go on the internet and type in "free wedding invitation wording" to find samples to give you an idea on what to write.

You can copy and paste the sample if you want, but make sure the names are changed because most likely the samples are using names such as John Doe.

Usually, the first thing your guests should see on the card are the names of the people who are hosting/paying for the wedding. After that, you write a request that you want your guest to attend. Third step is to write the bride's name and the groom's name (ex. Jane Smith to John Doe). The fourth step is the the date and time. Afterwards, you write the location of the place. Finally, let your guests know if there is going to be a dinner party or anything else you would like your guests to be aware of.

Never decide to write in the last minute because although this is a short writing, it might take you a while especially when you are not familiar with it. Put some thoughts into it so you can make it unique.

Tips For Making Your Own Wedding Invitations

Making your own wedding invitations is a great way to create unique and stunning wedding invitations. If you've got a creative flair it can be thoroughly enjoyable too - whether you're a seasoned card making pro or completely new to the art.

These tips for making your own wedding invitations are intended for those making cards for the first time. They'll help you on your way so your creative adventure is as easy as possible.

- Give yourself plenty of time. Making 50 or so wedding invitations is going to take a lot of your spare time. Don't forget you need to post your invites at least 8 weeks before the big day, so start thinking about your invites a further 8 weeks before that at least! This should be enough time.

- Choose a simple design. Remember, you'll have to recreate it 50 or so times and even more if you're using it on your other stationery. Complicated designs may leave you frustrated if each card takes an hour or so to create.

- Practice makes perfect. Try out your design several times before you start the real thing. Doing this will be quicker in the long run and stop you making mistakes on the 'real' thing.

- Get someone to review your finished work. A second pair of eyes will help you finesse your design.

- Get your partner to help out. They can cut, glue or insert. Many hands make light work and you'll be glad of the help.

- Use pre made blank cards. You can buy them in virtually all sizes and they come with a pre-scored fold. All you need to is fold them once you've finished decorating them. They're much easier and simpler then cutting your own card and will give you a professional finish.

- Print out your wedding invitations on a printer. You only need to print out one copy, then get the rest copied at your local copy shop. It'll save you money, time and ink. Your print shop can then cut them to the correct size quickly.

- Try using ribbon or other simple embellishments to add a finishing touch your to designs.

Make Up Tips for Photography

Photography make up is slightly different from daily make up applications. Here are some pointers -

Lighting:

  • Use natural lighting - for example, near a big window with lights coming in

  • If photography is taking place outdoors, do so around 4pm to 5pm, when the sun is about to set. Soft lighting makes a person better

Preparing the face:

  • Wash, exfoliate, tone and moisturize your face before applying make up

  • Oil control is very important. If you can, use oil free formulated products

  • Keep hair away from the face

  • To reduce puffy eyes, use Preparation H

Foundation:

  • Choose a thicker formulated foundation rather than the sheers ones that are used in daily applications so that all blemishes are covered easily

  • Blend foundation from chin to neck so that they are of the same colour

Powder:

  • Use lots of it, and reapply between shots, to create a mat finish look

Concealer:

  • 2 shades lighter than skin to cover blemishes and dark spots; apply before foundation application

Contouring:

  • Contour cheeks and eyes to create a sculpted look

  • Use foundation in a shade that is 2 to 3 shades darker than normal skin tone

Eyes:

  • Highlight eyebrow bones using light shadow to create lively eyes

  • Avoid eyeshadow that is too frosty or shimmery - it'll appear shiny

  • Apply eyeliner with precision

  • Use waterproof mascara

  • Overall application needs to be than normal make up

Lips:

  • Use lipstick and liner of same colour, in a shade darker than natural lip colour

Three Ways to Save Money on Wedding Invitations

Planning a wedding isn't a simple task; it takes months of work to successfully plan a wedding ceremony. After making seating arrangements and deciding on d矇cor and fashion options, the most complicated part of wedding planning comes it the end when it's time to pay for it all. When you're spending money on tailors, caterers, and rental fees the last thing you want to do is overspend on wedding invites. It is possible to find affordable invites; you just need to get creative when you think about the different kinds of formats you can use for your invitations.

Go Green

Choosing to use environmentally friendly invitation isn't just a good moral decision; it's also good for your wallet. Using recycled paper is usually cheaper for companies, so using invitations that are printed on recycled paper are usually less expensive than invites printed on new paper. You could take your eco-friendly invitations another step further by forgoing the use of paper in your wedding invitations all together. You could choose to...

Invite Guests Through E-mail

Aside from billing statements and junk mail, most people choose to communicate online instead of through written communication. You could virtually eliminate (pun intended) your invitations budget if you choose to send e-invites instead of paper invitations. There are a variety of websites that have customized templates for wedding invitations, and some there are even some invitation printers that design templates of their popular paper designs for digital use. If you choose to email your invitations you won't have to worry about people losing them, they'll be right in their inboxes.

Make a Movie Invitation

You could choose to buy some affordable wedding invitation sets, or you could choose to make an invite on your own. You've snapped countless pictures of you and your fianc矇 over the years with your camera phone, so why not truly enter the age of easy communication by filming an invitation for your guests? If you don't have a good quality digital camera to use, the communications and film departments of local colleges may have inexpensive filming equipment for your to borrow. You could even take it a step further and ask if there are some local film students that are looking for experience so you could have somebody with some basic film skills making your video. Afterwards all you'd need is a big stack of blank DVDs, envelopes, and stamps to send out your wedding invitations.

Colorful Creative Concepts For Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitation styles, themes, concepts, colors, adornments, schemes, extras, and little additions are as common and numerous and substantial as the stars in the night sky. There are thousands of color choices available with today's modern computer landscape. People are able to specify the exact HEX or RGB color code. People are able to pick out invitations in the shapes of squares, rectangles, circles, pentagons, octagons, trapezoids, cylinders, and more. People are likely to choose the standard square shape, but they should be aware that it costs 13 cents extra to send a square-shaped envelope at the U.S. Post office. Ribbons, bows, streamers, glitter, stickers, wax seals, string, yarn, felt, tactile paper, and other materials like silk, velvet, and leather can be added too. These materials are pretty meaningless in and of themselves, but they can be combined with a solid theme that makes sense. For example, leather can be combined with cowboy Western themes. Streamers and bows are great for royalty themes. Stickers are ideal for evoking images of happiness, sunshine, and fun in the sun. String and yarn are playful and can evoke stories of yore and yesteryear. Some people like pastels, others watercolor, and others like choppy, thick ink or paint to make a point.

Whatever your wedding invitations look like, there is always the decision to go modern or traditional, elegant or cheap, bold or muted, serene or outlandish, peaceful or zany, and so on and so forth, ad infinitum. The most important thing differs, but it should be firmly up to you and your spouse and to no other relatives or interferers.

Wedding invitations don't cost much, and personalization and customization and humanization are, ironically, more possible than ever before with computer software, web forms, and online ordering. Everything can be changed at the flick of a form and sent to your house vis-a-vis free samples or a full set of all the cards you need for the wedding. Be sure to order extras because your guest list might increase by the time the wedding approaches.

Wedding invitations are some of the most extravagant invitations if you choose for them to be. Or, they can be as dull as a day at home doing nothing. They're meant to convey a message, to reach out to the guest, and to fill the gap that you can't provide. Let your wedding invitations speak volumes about you.

Event Catering Business

Now it is completely accepted fact that catering is a very good and profitable business. But the business is not so easy for the starters. People often face some problems in the initial days since this business is all about planning and 'market reputation'. The 'market reputation' is responsible to receive the catering orders. Since the market reputation is nearly nil in initial days, it becomes a real problem to get the catering orders. So now in this article we will discuss a little about the procedures to start the business of catering.

Let me tell you about the basics of the Hawaii private catering service business. If you are fond of cooking, planning and group activities, then catering is undoubtedly a great career option for you. You can precede this business from your home too. Hawaii Catering services are of two types in general. First one is called the mobile catering and the second one is known as the event catering. Of them, the event catering is more popular and the profitable to 'catering business persons'.

The 'event catering' includes the catering services in various conferences or parties in purpose of the birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and some other private parties. Even it is not always necessary to go for each and every type of catering services in the initial days. It is always better to go for the wedding caterings only in the initial days. Since wedding is full of entertainment and joy, and food is a vital component in joy and entertainment, a good wedding catering service can lift you 'market reputation' a lot in a single day. Even if you wish you can be recognized as the 'wedding catering specialist' in future too.

When you are opening a catering company, the business plans are very much vital. Without the proper planning, you will not be able to be successful in this business at all. You can have a 'business loan' to expand your business. Expansion of the business means that you buy all the necessary catering equipments and own them. But I will suggest you to not to go for the loans in the initial days of your catering business. In the initial days, you should tie up with any good catering equipment supplier and use their equipments in the events against some money. If your business starts go through the right way then you will be able to buy the catering equipments by your own within some months with the money of your profit.

The planning also includes the ways to make your brand name popular to the people. You can use the newspapers or the audio-visual media as the component of advertising your business along with the Internet. In these days of tough competition, the proper advertisements can do wonders for your business. Along with the mentioned basics, you should appoint some modest and workaholic people as the 'food servers' and the 'catering guide. Immense importance should be given to the cook of your catering company. Lastly, you and your people should be polite and modest to the guests of the particular event while working.

Make Your Own Wedding Invitations With Do it Yourself Kits

If you want to make your own wedding invitations without all the blood, sweat, and paper cuts, using a do it yourself wedding invitation kit is the best way to go. Of course you can cut your own paper (make sure you get heavier stock paper for this) and experiment with different borders to try to dress up the paper, but most brides find this to be very frustrating and labor intensive to get nice looking results. You want your invites to have your own certain flair to them, but not at the cost of pulling your hair out and making your wedding planning process unpleasant.

Instead of wasting countless hours to only end up where most brides do, save yourself time and energy and get better results by using a do it yourself invitation kit. Use today's technology in conjunction with one of the many fine kits available to make your own wedding invitations. These kits include everything you need to make the special stationary that you want for your wedding day, and they are all very reasonably priced to save you money. This is not one size fits all, there are still many choices to make your invitations unique.

When you choose to get a kit and make your own wedding invitations for your guests, you will need to make sure you download one of their available templates to get them just right. These templates are just like using the label templates that you may end up using to mail out the invitations. The template will keep you from wasting your invitations and having to order more to get them right. Often the kits will include some extra blanks so that you can do some testing before the actual final print.

Now that you have your kit and template, the next simple steps will just be a process of finding the style of printing that you like. Look through the available fonts on your computer, and give a few of them some test prints to see which stands out to you. You also want to play with the size of the text to see how it looks. Often a text will look better in a different size, so make sure to test this. You can even try different color inks with your make your own wedding invitations, but classic black is always a good choice.

I would suggest using regular old ordinary printer paper for this testing process until you get what is your final choice. You don't want to waste all your test blanks provided in the kit until you are ready to print the final invitations. The test blanks provided should be used only to get the final template printing right. When you've made your choices and done all of your test printing, it's time to make your own wedding invitations and send them out to your guests.

One final word of caution is to not get so wrapped up in the process when you make your own wedding invitations that you neglect to get the details of your wedding day correct. This is of utmost importance, as your guests will plan all their travel around this information.

It quickly becomes very overwhelming when you are planning a baby shower. There are so many little things that you did not think of, but there are many guides that you will find to help make planning a baby shower much easier.

Let's talk about the many different themes that you can choose from for your baby shower. Creating a theme will help the mother to be get many more items. The less the parents have to buy the more money they will save. And having a child today is not cheap.

You do not necessarily need to have a theme for a baby shower but it is much nicer when you do. It helps to get many extra things for the mother to be. Here are some baby shower themes that you can use when you are planning your baby shower. These four are my favorite because they are items that you definitely need and have to continuously purchase again and again.

Idea One: Diaper Theme

Fill up a diaper pail with all the items for diapers, such as diaper rash creams, and of course ton's of diapers. Make sure that you get different size diapers so that the mother will not need to purchase diapers for a while. (This is always nice)

Idea Two: Clothes Line

This will require everyone to bring some type of clothing for the new baby. And you can set up a rope across the room and everyone can begin to hang up the article of clothing on this line.

Idea Three: Bath Time

Bath time requires many things, such as shampoo, a robe, and many other little things that can quickly begin to add up. So everyone can bring something that the mother will need for bath time. Don't forget the rubber duck.

Idea Four: Book Time

All children love to read, and it's important to begin reading to your child very early in their lives. So start a library by asking everyone to bring a book for the new baby.

These are just a few ideas and you can find many other's by doing a simple search on the internet using one of the major search engines.

  5. Find a nice font. This will make your cards look nice too. You want something that is flowing and easy to read. You will only need one font, two if you want to use a Times Roman and a script for just your names. Names of the bride and groom are the only ones that should be in a different font if you choose.

  6. Decide how many invitations you will need. This means getting a good list of relatives and friends. Decide how far out of the family you want to go. Have extra cards in case you forget someone.

  7. Print out a nice full set before printing all of them. I like to print a set and let someone else proof them. This helps so that there aren't any mistakes. You don't like to find your own mistakes so having someone else proof it is really helpful.

As you can see it isn't that difficult to learn how to make your own wedding invitations.

Having someone show you how to make your wedding cards can be helpful. Leaning the basic set up will give you a great head start.

There are guidelines to follow in using the proper wording for your wedding announcements. Learning this proper wedding announcement etiquette can be very helpful. You can make your own wedding invitations. It is not as difficult as you think. Take it one step at a time and before you know it you will be making all kinds of projects. How Do I Plan a Renewal Vow or Second Wedding?

While renewal vows and second weddings do mean getting married for the second time, there are a few differences that should be pointed out.

Renewal vows mean just that. You're just reiterating that the two of you are remaining dedicated to each other. Now, you could have someone officiate the vows for you if you like, or even have a short religious ceremony to celebrate, this does not require any license or paperwork since you're already married to each other.

Second weddings, however, mean that one or both of you had been married before to different spouses. In this case, paperwork is required, since you will be legally registering a new marriage.

That said, there are a few bits of etiquette to follow when hosting second weddings and vow renewals.

First of all, you don't need any of the pre-wedding celebrations for a second wedding, except perhaps a party to announce your engagement and a rehearsal dinner. Bridal showers are optional, as are bachelorette parties. Vow renewals don't require any of these at all, remember, you're already married!

As to place, second weddings may be held in a religious or secular setting. The only thing asked is that you don't get married in the same place as your first wedding. Vow renewal ceremonies may be held anywhere, since it is actually a celebration of the years you have spent together.

Both can definitely be more casual and personal celebrations, since the only people to please are the two of you. The decorations can be more eclectic, the same with the food and flowers. During vow renewals, however, you could carry a bouquet but you don't toss it to the female guests.

The attire can be more casual as well, basing on the tone of the ceremony. While you could wear your original wedding gown for a vow renewal if you want (and give yourself a toast if you can!), cocktail dress or other semi-formal or dressy casual outfit will do, too. If it's your second wedding, nix using your old dress. Throw everything from your former marriage out - and this includes keeping old engagement rings away, or recreating your first wedding down to everything except the groom.

Children are going to be involved in one way or another in both ceremonies. Putting together a blended family is a little trickier, so do ask the children if they would want to be involved in the wedding or just be a guest. Giving them an active role in the ceremony is a terrific way of giving them a little control to what could be (for them) a scary day.

In vow renewal ceremonies, children may actually run the show! Give them starring roles wherever you can; they are, after all, one of the main and very obvious reasons for this ceremony.

Last, don't expect gifts. While second-time brides may have a small gift registry, this is definitely not recommended for vow renewal ceremonies. A nicely worded invitation is the best way to drive home that point. Some couples ask that donations be made to their favorite charities; this would be a beautiful option.

Scottish Weddings - Why You Should Have Wedding Insurance

Your Scottish wedding is one of the most important and expensive days of your life. That is why it makes good sense to have a wedding insurance policy to cover yourself in case of accidents or illness. In fact, they are so inexpensive, there is really no excuse not to have one.

With the average cost of a wedding in the UK being about £15,000 ($22,000), it makes excellent sense to have wedding insurance to cover yourself in case something goes wrong. Although many people do not even want to think about such things, when planning a wedding, or any important event, you should always keep one golden rule in mind - hope for the best - and plan for the worse.

That is what makes a good event planner.

For example, what if the groom or a member of your family becomes ill and the wedding has to be postponed? Although you may be able to arrange another date with your suppliers, they will still want paid for the cancellation. After all, it is not their fault that you had to cancel and they run a business. If they did not charge you a cancellation fee, then they would be out of pocket.

If you have wedding insurance, then you will have the money to pay the cancellation fees and pay for the new wedding date. No one will be out of pocket.

Another, not too uncommon, scenario is where the venue tells you at the last moment that they are double-booked and you will have to find another venue. Assuming you can find another venue, what if it is more expensive than the original venue? You would have to pay the difference.

What happens if one of your wedding suppliers goes bankrupt and you have to pay again for the wedding cake, wedding cars, flowers, photographs?

A good wedding insurance policy will cover all of these situations and more.

Good policies from reputable companies can cost anywhere from £40-£150 ($60-$220), depending on the amount of cover you want.

Another good thing about wedding insurance is that it includes Public Liability Insurance. This is a very neglected area of wedding planning. If a wedding guest, a member of staff, or a passing member of the public is injured by something that happens at your wedding, then you could be liable and sued.

Remember that many wedding venues, such as hotels will open to the public and other guests. So, you have to take reasonable precautions to ensure that your bridal party and guests conduct themselves with due care and avoid damage to property or injuring other people.

However, if an accident does happen and you have Public Liability insurance, then you will be covered.

Do not assume that because you are having your wedding at a venue that their public liability insurance will cover you. Not so. Their insurance is to protect them from claims - not you. It is your wedding, your event, and you must make sure that you are covered and protected from claims.

The last thing you need after you are married is spending money on lawyers fees rather than on your new house.

Many department stores and reputable insurance companies are offering Wedding Insurance now. So, shop around and see what they have to offer. After all, £60 or $80 is very little to pay for the peace of mind that these policies offer for one the most important days of your life.

Have a lovely and well-insured wedding!

Measuring Training Programs: Cost Vs Benefit

For decades companies have been struggling with the real costs,
benefits and return-on-investment of training costs. With
increasing online learning opportunities, organizations are finding their focus shifting from providing costly onsite training programs to the use of new tools and technology now available. Companies need to understand and apply the business analytics in order to fully appreciate the effectiveness and impact that e-learning and training offers.

Companies invest large amounts of money, resources and time in
training. According to a 2002 ASTD State of the Industry Report
where over 375 major corporations were surveyed, companies spent
between one (1) and three (3) percent of their total payroll on
training. This translated to a per-person basis of more than
US $700 per employee per year. In cutting-edge companies that
significantly increases to US $1400 or more per person per year.

If training expenses are viewed as a percentage of the company's
profits, then the training budget could represent as much as
5 - 20% of the total profit margin. With increasing costs
associated with travel and lodging, as well as increasing costs
and expenses to register and attend meetings or to develop in-house training programs, training budget costs are undboutedly going to increase, which only underscores the need to justify its cost.

In order to effectively measure training programs, companies
are faced with three critical issues: efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance. Every major decision made regarding training falls into one of these three areas. Fortunately, each of these three areas can be benchmarked and measured.

The ASTD 2002 study reported that only one-third of companies
measured the effectiveness of learning and that 12% or less attempted to measure job and business impact of their training programs. Why? Interestingly enough the top reason why companies fail to measure training is that they lack the experience, tools and infrastructure to do so.

It is impossible to improve or effectively optimize the training
program if it is not benchmarked or measured. Training should be measured and evaluated just as companies measure productivity, profit or quality. There have been many scorecards, dashboards, algorithms or metrics developed for this purpose.

If one considers the total training investment per person in the
company (see above), the question is how much should they spend
on measurement and evaluation? One, five or ten percent? Looking back at the ASTD 2002 study of best practices, we find that most companies spend 40-50% of their total training dollars on content development, 8-10% on infrastructure and the remaining resources on salaries and facilities costs.

For many development of measurement and evaluation tools sounds like additional costs and expense to the organization. Companies who allocate a small, but fixed percentage of the training budget to this purpose will find themselves able to effectively measure the effectiveness for their overall investment in training. One study found that organizations who adopt this model, and who spend US $2-10 per employee on learning analytics reported noticeable improvements in the measurability and return on investment.

Companies will need to justify the costs associated with measuring learning by identifying the business impact and risk of not training its employees. This could be quantified by fines, or profit loss as a result of being out of compliance with laws or standards. Often times this can result in fines levied against the company or even lawsuits or other forms of profit loss.

In healthcare, for example, lack of compliance with correctly
collecting, coding and reporting cancer incidence could have far-reaching impact on budget dollars spent not only in the training and operational costs associated with the Cancer Registry department, but could also negate the costs associated with cancer program development and community outreach programs. Although program development and outreach programs have the ability to compete with the consumer's dollars, all this could be for naught if the required reporting is not done accurately and in compliance with the State or accreditation program standards. Training programs for the Cancer Registry can ensure that the data management processes are appropriately managed.

So, in summary, companies should be focusing on the development
and measurement of their learning programs. The investment in
learning analytics will outweigh the risks of inadequate training. Success for any organization will directly depend on their employee's understanding of their products, services, operations and policies. Employees must be thoroughly trained in compliance, standards, confidentiality, non-disclosure and other legally sensitive areas of the company. And, companies must be able to track and measure this using effective learning analytics.

Public Marriage Records - Now You Can Search Marriage Records Instantly

Need access to public marriage records? You're in luck!

In the past, access to marriage records and other such accounts were typically restricted to government and law enforcement officials and used to track down suspected criminals or other individuals of interest. Recently however, marriage records and a vast array of other records have become accessible to the general public thanks in part to the internet. Today, anyone who can access the internet may gain access to these records through online record registries.

Along with marriage records, one can also find divorce records, birth records, death records, arrest records, court records, criminal records, military records, adoption records, DUI records, bankruptcy records, property records, and a great deal more.

Today, public records searches are employed by many individuals and organizations besides from law enforcement and government officials. Some of these include individual parties looking to find information on their family history, people wanting to find lost friends or classmates, performing background checks to find out more about a particular person, or private investigation. Usually, public records may be looked up for a particular individual, county, city, or state. For example, one could lookup all public marriage records from Florida from 1901 - 2001, or just the marriage records for one particular individual. There are many uses for these types of public records and online records providers are becoming more widespread in use each day.

When looking for an online public records database, it is important to ensure the service provider operates a secure website and that all your searches will be confidential and discreet. At present, there are no online records databases which provide records for free. Most records providers are membership websites which you can register with on a yearly basis.

Simple and Elegant Classic Wedding Invitations

Many people want to create the classic wedding, with long wedding dress, beautiful veil and, of course, classic and elegant wedding invitations. With the number of styles available in wedding invitations today, it can be hard to decide on what exactly a classic invitation looks like.

When you choose the paper, ink and other details of your wedding invitations, try not to get so caught up in what is traditional that you bypass your own personal taste. While these guidelines provide you with some information on choosing simple and elegant wedding invitations, let your taste guide your final decision. If you want bold colors or see a motif you want to add to your invitations, you should do so. The wedding invitation is more than an invitation for your guests; it is a lasting keepsake of your wedding.

Paper choice

For the couple that wishes to send out classic wedding invitations, the most common types of paper to use are cotton, linen and parchment. All of these choices fall into the classic style. Cotton is a casual choice, while linen is slightly more formal. However, the most formal choice of these papers is parchment.

What color paper should you choose for the wedding invitation? Let your personal preference ultimately guide your decision, but white, ivory and crème are all popular choices. These colors help to create a classic looking invitation which is easy to read and strikes the recipient as very elegant.

Ink choice

The color of the ink is another choice to be made when deciding on the look of a classic wedding invitation? If you want a simple but still very elegant choice, you will probably not integrate your main wedding theme colors into the invitation. Stick with black, dark gray or, for the formal wedding, a metallic.

Add-ins

The individual items which are included in a simple and classic wedding invitation are very important as well? A response, or RSVP, card is an absolute must. This will (hopefully) help your friends and family share their response to your invitation in a timely fashion. The RSVP card should come with a stamped envelope that has the return address already printed on it. Also include a reception card if you like as well as directions if necessary. What to leave out? Any mention of where the bride is registered. While it has become much more common in recent years to include information on registration information, the traditional advice is still the same. The guests can contact the mother of the bride or a member of the bridal party for registration information; this is typically not included in a wedding invitation.

When ordering your invitations, you may choose some other additions as well. First, decide how the seating arrangement will be handled at the reception. For a classic, sit down dinner, place cards that coordinate with the invitation are a nice touch. To add an additional touch of elegance to the reception, create menu cards for each table, which can also be sent along with the invitations. Finally, if you are expecting guests from out of town, you can print accommodations cards for them, with hotel information, to include in the invitations.

Customizing the classic invitation

Many couples who choose a classic invitation want to personalize it in some way so that it matches the character of the couple and the wedding. There are a variety of ways to personalize a wedding invitation while still maintaining a simple and elegant look.

Font style. The wide variety of fonts available can seem overwhelming. To maintain an elegant look, stick with a clean font without an abundance of curlicues. Some elegant font styles include Copperplate and Miss Le Gatees.

Liner colors. Choose an envelope lining color that coordinated with your wedding colors without being to bold. A solid color presents a more elegant picture than stripes or patterns.

Envelope decorations. For the simple and classic envelope decoration, steer clear of a motif, such as hearts or a church. A simple monogram is perfectly acceptable.

No matter how simple you decide to go when choosing your invitations, it is important to let your personality shine through. Your wedding is the first opportunity that you and your fiancé will have to share your joint personality to your family and friends. You should not be so concerned about your wedding theme that you step away from ideas that you love. It is possible to have classic and elegant wedding invitations that sparkle with personality as well. Investing a bit of time to choose the perfect invitations is time which is very well spent. Invitations and wedding favors are two important items which your friends and family, along with your future spouse, can use to remember all of the special moments of your wedding day.

10 Factors to Keep in Mind Before Buying a Term Insurance Plan

A term insurance plan is the purest form of a life insurance policy. Here, the sum insured is paid to the nominee if death occurs to the insured person during the term of the policy. In the happy situation that the insured survives the term of the policy, nothing is payable in most cases. In that sense, a term insurance is conceptually similar to a long term motor insurance policy. There are certain term insurance products where the premium is returned to the policyholder if he (s) survives the policy period. These policies are called Term With Premium Back policies, and would obviously cost more than a pure term for the same level of life insured.

The basic objective behind a term insurance policy is that it should substitute the financial loss that the death of a person creates for his family members. Thus by definition, a term insurance policy is crucial for a young man married with young children, whereas it might be less important for a man on the verge of retirement with a significant pool of savings and children well settled. There are ten important factors that one should look at before purchasing a term insurance policy

1. Level of sum insured: A broad rule of thumb is 15 times the annual income if one is less than 40 years of age, 10 times the annual income if one is between 40 and 45, and 5 times the annual income if one is 45 or more. If you have a significant housing loan, you should have that loan covered through an additional credit life insurance plan, where the insurance company would settle the loan outstanding with your bank if there is a death. Another approach is Sum Insured = (total loans outstanding+ amount required for children's education and wedding) + (average annual consumption related expenditure ) *10. One should also bear in mind that one's earning potential and expenses are likely to increase through the years, and that we have a high rate of inflation which will continuously erode value. Rs 50 lakhs today might look like a tidy sum, but twenty years later it might not be significant at all.

2. Duration of the policy: The younger you are, the longer should be the duration of the policy that you purchase, synchronizing it with retirement age or the age at which one's financial liabilities would most probably reduce. A rule of thumb that can be used is that the term of the policy should be equal to Desired Retirement age - Current age.

3. When should I buy: The best time to buy a term insurance plan is NOW. This is because term plans get more expensive as one gets older. The biggest risk is that one might contract certain diseases with time which makes entry into a term plan more complicated. The insurer might refuse to underwrite the risk or bump up the premiums if you have reported any medical condition. Future is uncertain while the financial liabilities are predictable, and leaving behind a set of crippling financial liabilities for one's dependants is irresponsible and avoidable.

4. Should I buy additional protection through Riders: Riders for an insurance policy are similar to the extra toppings on a pizza. A pure insurance policy pays out only on death. But there can be situations such as a critical illness or a severe accident which can completely eliminate one's earning power. Riders such as Critical Illness riders or Permanent Total Disability riders come to the rescue here. These riders ensure that the sum insured is paid out to the policyholder in case any of these unfortunate situations occur.

5. Who should I buy from: At the end of the day, an insurance contract is a contract of trust between the life insured and the insurance company. You should buy your policy from someone who you feel will honour the contract the best at the time of the claim. You can have a look at the IRDA site for the claim payment ratios of the life insurance companies. Estimates show that in 2011, about 16000 life insurance claims will be rejected. Price is also a very important variable. Term insurance rates have come down significantly over the last two years because of price competition and increased life expectancy. Thus, you have a wide choice of 20+ insurers from whom you can buy. Look around aggressively for the company offering among the lowest prices. Companies such as Aegon Religare, ICICI Prudential, MetLife and Kotak Life have the cheapest rates.

6. Where should I buy from: Given that term insurance rates can vary by more than 50% between different companies, it is important that you do a thorough research before buying. Your friendly neighborhood agent might not be the best person to rely on for advice due to two reasons- the plan he recommends might be way too expensive, and it is most likely that he will try and push you towards buying some other product where his commission is higher. Term products have low commissions for the agents. Over the last two years, term insurance rates have com down by 40%-50% due to increased competition and lower mortality rates. In our view, the best place to buy a term insurance product is online because of the following reasons:

  1. You can easily compare the features and price of the different term insurance plans

  2. It is fast and simple- would not take more than 10 minutes.

  3. Medical tests and all other documentation would be arranged for by the insurance company at home itself

  4. Certain companies such as Aegon Religare, MetLife and ICICI Prudential have exclusive products only for online sales where the commissions are lower, and thus the product is cheaper than offline products. Sometimes, the online version might be cheaper than the offline variant by as much as 30%!

  5. Online products will progressively get cheaper than offline products as the buyer profile of online policies will have a lower risk rating

  6. You can easily pay the premium through credit card or through net banking

Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) estimates that about Rs 600 crores of insurance premium was paid online in 2010. While a part of that would be renewal premiums, a significant chunk of that would be new term and health insurance policies bought online.

7.What information should I disclose: It is imperative that you disclose all the relevant information truthfully. Even a small half truth might be enough ground for the insurance company to reject the claim later. You should keep the following factors in mind while completing the proposal form:

a. Disclose your medical history in detail: Don't hide anything. If you have a pre-existing disease, mention it clearly. In case of a death which the insurance company thinks is due to a non-disclosed pre existing disease, the claim will be rejected. This is especially true in non- medical cases

b. Disclose your family medical history too

c. If you smoke or drink, state that clearly. Also state your physical parameters accurately- height, weight etc

d. State your income and occupation accurately. If your occupation exposes you to higher risk (eg armed forces, mining etc), do state it clearly

e. Mention clearly any other insurance policies that you might have

f. Make sure that you submit genuine copies of PAN Card details, birth certificate, income proof etc

g. Try and fill up the proposal form yourself and do not leave it to the agent

8. Multiple insurance policies: It is better to have two insurance policies of say Rs 25 lakhs each than to have one policy of Rs 50 lakhs. In this way, you can have the option of continuing with a lower cover if at some point you have a reduced term insurance need

9. Who should be the policy beneficiary(s): The family members who would be the most affected in case of your demise should be the beneficiaries. In most cases, it would be the spouse, children or parents. You could also allocate different percentages of the sum insured to the beneficiaries e.g 50% to the spouse and 50% to the parents

10. Pure Term insurance or savings related insurance products: The primary objective of life insurance is to provide financial protection to the nominees. It is only after the protection angle has been completed covered through a term insurance plan that one needs to look at building up savings or investment through a life insurance policy
