How To Make Your Own Wedding Invitations - Seven Steps in Getting Started

How to make your own wedding invitations. You really can do this!

Here are seven steps that might help you get started.

  1. Decide on the wording you will use. You might want to research the proper wedding invitation etiquette. Depending on your own personal situation, the wording will vary. You don't want to offend anyone so learn some of the proper wordings and you will avoid some of these hurt feelings.

  2. Choose the theme you want. If you don't have a theme decide on a formal or informal setting. This can change the look and feel of your invitation.

  3. Learn a basic word processing program. I use Microsoft Works. It is cheaper than Microsoft Word and I have found easier.

  4. Purchase some standard cards. You won't need special cards. What you put on them will determine what they are for. If you need RSVP cards get two sizes of cards. The smaller ones will be the RSVP. You can use standard card stock for the reception cards since they don't require an envelope.

  5. Find a nice font. This will make your cards look nice too. You want something that is flowing and easy to read. You will only need one font, two if you want to use a Times Roman and a script for just your names. Names of the bride and groom are the only ones that should be in a different font if you choose.

  6. Decide how many invitations you will need. This means getting a good list of relatives and friends. Decide how far out of the family you want to go. Have extra cards in case you forget someone.

  7. Print out a nice full set before printing all of them. I like to print a set and let someone else proof them. This helps so that there aren't any mistakes. You don't like to find your own mistakes so having someone else proof it is really helpful.

As you can see it isn't that difficult to learn how to make your own wedding invitations.
