Cheap Wedding Invitations - A Myth Or Not?

On the face of it? Yes it would seem that the only way to obtain cheap wedding invitations is to purchase a DIY kit and be prepared to be up to your elbows in card, glue, paper, glitter etc. Also, of course, there would be the necessity to have a decent printer to print your inserts. However the draw back to this is that with an average 70 guests attending a wedding, you can be in no doubt that you would probably have to spend some extra money buying printer cartridges and, as these don't come cheap, the whole idea of saving money goes out of the window.

Going down the DIY route doesn't have to be messy, boring or ugly, there are ways to put together a tasteful invitation which looks stylish, neat and even a touch expensive. Buy from the following specialists online and you won't fail in your mission to put together inexpensive unique stationery for your wedding. Obtain some card from a paper merchant. A good paper merchant will sell card and paper in a wide variety of weights, textures and colours. Some if not most offer more discount the more you order. The choice will enlighten you. A good paper merchant will also send you swatches for a small charge or even free and this will certainly get your creative juices flowing for a start. For embellishments check out good craft retailer for easy, tasteful bits to stick on your cards. If the paper merchant you choose does not supply envelopes or the envelopes you are looking for, then there are specialists out there who will and these will supply an amazing array of envelopes in all different textures, sizes and colours. You can also order envelope samples at a small cost. When ordering samples be aware of postal charges which can eat into your tight budget.

This all sounds too easy, too good to be true and this may be the case as your determined plan could unravel when you witness the huge range of card, paper and embellishments available to you. You may be tempted to order a little of everything and this could work out expensive in the long term. To avoid this common mistake, before you even start looking, focus on what your wedding colour scheme will be. This will go a long way towards making a decision on what to purchase. Look at other elements, do you want personalisation, i.e. your initials/names on the front of the invites - this is simple and stylish and will save you money on embellishments - you could print this in your wedding colours onto beautiful white card, add tasteful silk paper inserts, and tie it all together with satin ribbon. Have contrasting envelopes, if dark coloured, then print your guest names and/or addresses onto white/silver/gold labels.

However, why put yourself through the stress of cutting, sticking, peeling, and folding until you are fed up or until your beautiful nails do not look manicured any longer. There are companies out there who will quite happily do this for you for not much more money than taking the DIY route. On the internet today you can find wedding invitations from 0.60 upwards, and most can be personalised with your wedding colours, with some companies offering free samples. At this end of the price bracket you can expect to see very plain but traditional designs, embellished with ribbons only. To see something more modern and printed with a design, expect to pay 1.20 upwards.

The final alternative would be to purchase some readymade packs but these also are no fun in that you would have write out the wedding details for each one, which, if your handwriting is not great, can look messy and really just too cheap.
