You can add clip art to get a more custom look. Just find something that you like or that allows you to start a theme. Then use a nice font and you will soon have some very nice look wedding announcements.
By making your own you will save money. And by using what you have, you won't have to purchase wedding invitation software. It all adds up to saving money.
Why before you know it you might even start making money by making invitations for others. You will have so much fun and learn so much that it will be easy. So don't go out and buy some wedding invitation software, if you want to make your wedding announcements use what you have.
